    To update.

Got the manager to call me finally after sending a compliant via email. The delay is now apparently due to the car having a recall. The sales guy did mention something about a recall on the engine after he said the delay was due to staff shortages at the import centre. This recall is now something to do with the petrol cap and Dacia have blocked all of this model being sent out to or handed over to customers until it's fixed. (Apparently). Mine has been fixed he says and the new delivery date is now 5th February.

Got a £200 discount for goodwill which Im quite happy with TBH. Although it is fairly clear that I was lied to at the start. The salesman knew full well it would be a February delivery but knew if he told me that I would say Ill just wait a few weeks longer for the 19 plate instead of the 68. Oh well lesson learned...
  • I'd probably wait for a 19 plate now too. Tell them so. Them meeting their monthly sales targets or whatever is of no concern to you.
  • Lee is correct.... insist on it.....a couple of weeks will make a difference when reselling....even if only psychologically.....

But according to the t&cs of the sales contract they can still deliver the car to me up to 60 days after the estimated delivery date only after this can I rescind the contract and cancel with a full refund.

Question is: do you still want the car or are you now looking for ways to engineer this into a reason to pull out?

If you still want the car, suggest you insist on registering the can on march 1st or 2nd (2nd is a Saturday so a good day to collect) and therefore enjoy the benefit of a ‘new’ car for 6 months rather than the three you were going to get....

As I say it’s only psychological but not a bad outcome?

Assume also they are going to honour any part exchange value (if applicable) that was agreed when purchasing the car.... make sure you make them Aware that’s on your radar too...

ITYM March 1st/2nd, if you're referring to 68/19 plates.
  • edited. quite correct
  • I also think it's quite rude of them to request the balance to be paid last week when they knew fine well they weren't delivering it. they can hide behind contracts all they like but I would be insisting on a 19 plate now.

The problem is Tuesday last week I signed the registration document and emailed it back it already had a 68 reg on it. Does this mean its already registered?

Yes I do still want the car and would rather not pull out.

    Yes.

As far as 19-plate goes, let's just look again at the timeline:

Original estimate - wk2/3 of Jan (wk3 ended 18th). Told on 22nd would be in 23rd. Told on 25th would be in by 1st Feb. Now told will be 5th Feb. That's three weeks plus two working days after the latest date of the original estimate.

So you now WANT to delay it by a FURTHER three weeks plus three working days...?
