made to measure blinds

I have just recieved some made to measure blinds (blinds 2 go)......before sending in measurements i rang them to query something . Basically i want the blinds to fit into the recess but outside of the frame wall to wall. On ordering you either say that you want the blinds to fit within the recess or exact fit.
I rang customer services explaining that i wanted them within the recess but outside of the actual frame (i need new windows after moving and for now i dont want any part of the frames visible)....she told me to measure wall to wall sending in the smallest measurement which i did and she told me to click on `exact fit`.......
They arent huge windows and each blind was over £100.....I am gutted as they are too big and will not fit within the recess. They measure 37 3/4 inches and i ordered 37 and a half inches.....obviously with a difference of quarter of an inch they wont fit in......i have measured with three different tape measures including a metal one as they advise and it is defintely over quarter inch wider than what i ordered.....(there is also a long piece of something for the bracket at the top and its almost 39 inches !!!
I have looked at their terms and conditions online and it says that they will not refund or exchange on made to measure blinds as they are made sepcifically to our requirements and are no re-sellable.
i intend to ring customer services in the morning and i am so worried they will say they cannot change them......can anybody tell me of my rights or advise me please before i ring as forearmed......(if they will not change them can i ring my credit card company)...£300 is a lot of money to lose as they are useless as they are.....they wouldnt even fit outside of the window as they wouldnt be long enough etc and i dont want them outside of the recess......help?
thank you.

As you have worked out you have been sent the exact size but you needed the blind to fit in the recess where they will take 5mm of your measurement. I once had a blind that was a touch big (my fault) and managed to trim one end without a problem as the cord pull system is set about 6 inches in to the blind.Hopefully they can take them back and trim one end for you as I am sure they use stock sizes and trim to customer specs anyway0

We used blinds2go for whole house projects when renovating and so far every single blind has been spot on and exactly as ordered. If they have made them too big you've been very unlucky. I'd always measure in mm for things like this in future rather than inches.
Did you order exact size or recess? You supply either the measurement you want or the size of the gap and they make the blind accordingly.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0 -

This problem sounds familiar.
I think there was another forum user who posted nearly the same issue about mis-measured blinds and i am sure it was on MSE forum but i cant seem to find it.0 -
Send them back - they're the wrong size. However, given you've not allowed any space for the blind, you might find when you do get the exact size you want, the blind will be difficult to lift and drop and it may drag up the wall. In my old house none of the windows are exactly square, and the gaps vary top to bottom around the blind a little. You might want to get a refund on the blind given its the wrong size, and then reorder using the recess option (rather than get in to arguments about changing the order after the fact).
I too have ordered six blinds for five rooms, and have had no issues with the fit - sounds like you were unlucky.0 -

That sounds rather confusing, not surprised you got it wrong.0 -

Good luck. The measurement instructions on the site are pretty clear, they even have drawings to help. You needed Recess Fitting & you ordered Exact Fitting.
It even says "Exact Fitting - This is the measurement you need to take if you want your blind to fit outside the window recess, overlapping on all sides.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0
