Call cost

Just had to call a friend in Spain to pass on some important information. I did this with my mobile connected to BT.

Not that the cost matters but I thought it would come out of my minutes but apparently I was charged £0.90p/minute.

Is this correct?

Unless you have international minutes included in your tariff, it is usual for these to be charged separately, yes.

If you're confusing international calling with EU roaming, that only applies when you are abroad.

You made an international call. Your inclusive minutes are (normally) only for calls within the UK and when roaming in Europe. There are much cheaper ways to make an international call, see the relevant MSE article for info.

Ok thanks both.

Seems a bit odd if my friend in Spain calls me it comes out her included minutes but if I call her then that’ll be 90p/minute...... somebody somewhere is making good money.

a uk mobile number or a Spanish number?

If the former, your normal UK rate will apply, and it'll come out of your monthly allowance. Any roaming charges are paid by the other party.
If it's a Spanish mobile or landline, then it's an international call, which is out-of-bundle.
