Occupational pension does not affect Carers Allowance. It is taxable though.

What benefits do your and your wife get?

Don't bother taking the Carer's Allowance because the money you receive is deducted from your wife's Disability Living Allowance which is tax free and is not included in any taxable income considerations.

I'm not sure where you got that from but it's certainly not correct, sorry. Carers allowance is not deducted from DLA or PIP, never has been and never will be.

    This is wrong.

You might be thinking of SDP, which is not payable if someone is claiming Carer's Allowance for you (and you need to meet specific criteria anyway).

I wouldn't have thought the OP was thinking that because SDP isn't deducted from DLA either.
  • i claimed carers allowance many years ago but went back into employment which meant my payments ceased
