Thank you. 3 years to go then🙄
  • So it's not just the one account that's behind on payments but others as well?

I have one that fell into arrears as I was disputing the charge with the catalogue, however they kept putting interest into the charge which Amounted to £10 and has now been cleared And acct closed.

The other account has 4 ‘1’s on it where I Was slightly late paying(due to my crap memory and it not being on DD) Everything else is absolutely fine

Six years from the date of closure for closed accounts.

How many accounts and late payments are we talking here?

Late payments are one of the things that will flag up on a mortgage application for sure

So my next account has 4 late payments, by late it’s 2 weeks at the most, but obviously it’s still late and that was over a year ago. It’s been paid ontime since.

The other acct was a catalogue that charged me a delivery fee after I returned the goods. I disputed this with them (as it was free delivery), however they kept adding interest to the charge whilst I was disputing it and I ended up paying the £10 arrears. This was 8 months ago.

I also have 3 mobile phone contracts (myself and 2 kids) and an interest free finance. There has never been a missed or late payment on these, or on the joint mortgage.

Whilst I appreciate the lateness was my fault, we are not talking huge amounts of money or being behind on payments by months and months, so I just think it a bit strange

That's a pretty patch credit history, and all very recent.

You either need a good adverse credit broker (and pay higher rates), a much large deposit or wait a couple of years to improve your chances.

    Sorry what does patch mean?

We are only remortgaging with a very low LTV And vey comfortably within affordability, so no need for a deposit

It means 'patchy' but with a missing 'y'. :)

Good point re the deposit - I forgot it was a remortgage. But a similar point applies to the equity.

It doesn't really matter on the amount - the flag for arrears or late payments will show up - even if it was for £1 it will cause alarm bells to ring
