Good morning, it's mild and damp here. Yesterday was fine, but cold.
Met my friend (ex work) yesterday , and had a good natter, then home via our cobblers where I'd left shoes for repair. They also take in dry cleaning, and I took a cashmere scarf for cleaning. I was tempted to wash it, but it said dry clean only. The assistant in the cobblers said she'd heard you could wash carefully in mild shampoo, I might try that next time.
Don't run away with the idea that I have a wardrobe full of cashmere, it was a present!!
Not much happening, just the usual household stuff, and visiting a friend tonight.
Hope everyone has as good a day as they can.
Take care folks.0 -
Morning everyone and happy Friday, where has the week gone?
Yesterday was a busy day in work, I didn't get the chance to breathe. Got home at about 8ish as I had some admin tasks to start, which I've still to finish. Made dinner, phoned my gran and my mum and then soon went to bed.
Advice is welcome...
I work in a small team of 3 and every time the boss leaves the room, wither it be to go to the toilet, make a brew or go for lunch, my other colleague takes his foot off the gas, pulls his phone out his drawer and just chills out. As soon as he hears the boss coming back, he puts his phone away and gets back to work. Should I say something? Bear in mind I've only been here 2 months!
Today I'm hoping for another productive one. It will be, I have no choice. I need to go to the post office on my way home as I believe my 2 new pair of prescription glasses arrive. Really interested to see them on and given they cost me £7.50 each, I can't complain if they don't.
I have quite the list of frogs to eat over the weekend which I'm looking forward to completing and feeling organised again. Today is also NSD 17 of the month, which means I've met my personal target, woohoo!!
Nelski - thanks for the recommendations and also for the wowcher website sign up!
Cranky - check out the Nike running up (it's free). They put together runs that are specific to you, very personalised. Good luck nonetheless.0 -
Speky, how annoying. I take it you mean saying something to the colleague rather than the boss. I think I'd wait a while before saying somehing.
Dumpling - what the others said.
Gers, I'm glad your mum is improved.
We're back to the hospital this morning to check that the chemo hasn't damaged Steve's kidneys or liver. Ziggy will need walking as well. Apart from that we'll have a quiet day because we're still both feeling very tired.0 -
Morning all, drizzly and damp here but strangely mild. There is a tiny remnant of the little snowman that DGC made on Wednesday on the front lawn and a fallen carrot that Ly1a has her eye on...
Speky I echo what Snoozer says, think I'd wait a while yet too,and after that a comment with a touch of friendly humour just to get your point across
£7.50 for glasses,is that from an online opticians? Interested as it's just cost us over £400 for the both of us
Dumpling have a nice rest today x
Nelski hope today is better and you miss the traffic.
CG glad you're back to normal with your lovely doggy friends :j& thanks for the DGD good wishes.
I'm popping to town on the next bus so I'd better get a move on,hope you all have a good day xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Yesterdays appointment for OH went well, except I had to park away from the car park, it was full, had to be extra careful, the pavements were slippy with ice.
Better morning this morning, its been raining, fingers crossed the temperature does not drop below freezing.
I have a couple of forms I need to fill in and post, so better do that, one is for my blue badge which stands a better chance now my osteoporosis has been confirmed. My wrist is still sore, the physio massaged my arm, I have a painful lump where she was pressing, she said it was a knotted muscle.......hmmmmm it did not respond to the massage, hope she is right. My thumb is still tender, but not as bad as it was.
Dumpling, that so called friend needs dumping and quick, how dare she intrude on your private space for 10 hours. Afraid I would have chucked her out after two at the most and told her not to come back. I know its difficult but that really was the pits. She must have the skin of an elephant to stay that long. She is a friend you could do without.
Gers..... pleased to hear that DM is co operating a bit better, hope she continues, it makes life so difficult when people do not believe what they have been told.
Sorry to hear so many of you are not sleeping well, Wednesday night was a bad one for me, last night much better, I did wake once but went back to sleep it was 8.30am when I roused. A few nights of unbroken sleep would be great.
Fish and chips tonight, that will be fish two nights running we had smoked haddock last night. Will have to sort a dessert out.0 -
I have no oomph for the Friday Tidy so I've knitted a small horse instead.
Speky, I'd just keep quiet, I bet your boss will twig in time.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Been into town and now back.
I wanted to get DM another pair of cords and failed. Everywhere I tried I was told that spring wear was coming in and winter wear all sold in sales or withdrawn. It's blooming January with the worst of the weather probably ahead of us and I can't get winter trousers,
Anyway, bought myself a lovely pair of canvas Sketchers ( I find their trainers and shoes really comfortable) and a couple of spring tops in Marks. :rotfl:
Then I wandered down the hill slowly, my knee hurts more going downhill, to V irgin Money where I had my passbooks updated before enjoying my free coffee and biscuit. Now I'm back with DM, she's still in bed after her busy day yesterday. She's bright, just weary. I'm sure I'd still be lounging in bed if I could.
It's so mild outside I ended up sweating in my jumper and warm jacket. I think hobbling is hard work too. My knee is extra sore as I'm losing weight which is making me walk differently so my balance is changing. Knee is really objecting, I'll just have to go back to regular painkillers as losing weight will help in the long run. I'll battle on.
Off to get my chicken Kiev cooked.0 -
Afternoon all
We had a lovely time sitting with the DGC last night and DD enjoyed the show. Even DSiL commented that he was surprised as to the amount of songs he recognised.
We didn't get home till 11.30pm though as the motorway was shut and DSil had to come home from Cardiff the long way round. There may have been another jumper.......... we have already had two trying to do it from a motorway bridge this week, it's so sad that people think like that
.
I think I must have been on the night shift last night, as I was still awake at 4.30am . Consequently I'm doing nothing today other than sitting on the sofa in front of the fire and under my cwtchy fleece blanket
. Mr Fix it is already inspecting the insides of his eyelids too :rotfl:.
I have paid our TV licence online this morning .... Oh joy it's gone up again . I've also read that the local council are trying to put our council tax up by 6% this year . It's all so depressing as probably no ones salary or pension will be going up by that much  . Sorry that turned into a bit of a rant.
It seems I have been roped into a game or two of Fortnite this evening by the DGS and Mr Fix It. So a 3 way gaming session is on the cards
I don't know what we will have for tea, there is plenty of choice in the cupboards and freezers. I'll have a root around later and we'll probably end up with whatever I put my hand on first :rotfl:.
Hope any hospital/GP appointments go well today, especailly RosyR's DGD.
Thinking of the poorly people and anyone struggling .
Speky I would keep schtum too. Maybe the manager already knows what's going on and is biding his time.
Nelski why not try to get your Mum on a Morries mobilty scooter next time shopping, if there are no small trolleys available. Dad uses one and we can lose him at least half a dozen times during a shopping trip :rotfl:.
Take care and hugs all round.

Afternoon all. Quick one - Im out, it's much more painful than it was before, i am worried abou my future ability to ride a motorbike as one of the things I was going to plan for a belated birthday was a trip to Norway/Sweden etc on a motorbike...
However, I am fine apart from being grumpy with pain. OH is at hme looking after me and so far he's doing a good job
Speky, I'm not sure....Can you engineer a situation where you leave at the same time as the boss and contrive to come back quietly either fater your boss or with your boss so that he's doing nothing in front of you both?Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
taff you are allowed to be as grumpy as you like. I hope Mr taff looks after you properly, if not I'll box his ears :rotfl:. I hope you get your birthday pressie to Norway and Sweden, my fingers are crossed for that happening. Take care my welsh butty :AFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0
