Old Style Daily Friday 25th January

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Good morning everyone :hello:
Thanks for the support yesterday,I didn't think to lock the door as my grandchildren were here before school and her husband literally pushed her through the front door before running away down the path. I am still mad about it but there is no point in stewing on it so I am trying to let it go.

I've not had a good night again but I have nothing to do except Lee's form so I will get some rest today. My left heel, knee and hip are very sore so if there is no improvement in a week or so I will ring my GP and get some stronger pain relief. I hate bothering the doctor so I am terrible for waiting and seeing if things improve on their own and to be fair, most of the time they do but sometimes you end up in hospital with double pneumonia .

I have shopping being delivered this morning to the kids relief as there is no food in the house apparently. What they mean is that they have eaten all the nice cereal, ice lollies and easy grab food from the fridge. It is too much effort to cook themselves something if they want a snack and I am being mean by not buying junk food :D. The corner shop is just down the road if they are desperate but that costs them money so it's amazing how they will hang on till we have a shop delivered :rotfl:.

I forgot to get mince out for dinner tonight so we are going to have fishcakes instead with mushy peas and wedges. Nice easy tea that I don't have to think about. TA, your bolognese bake always sounds like it would be very tasty. Is it just a matter of making a bolognese sauce and mixing it with cooked pasta before throwing it in the oven?

Right, I am just waiting for Steve to wake up before I go and weigh myself as the scales are in our bedroom and they are talking ones. I am desperate for a cup of tea so I might make myself a small one to keep me going until then.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
  • Morning Dumpling and all of us who will be here later.

The sandman has well and truly deserted me so I'm getting on with the washing. I really am getting a bit tired now.

Today I have the usual Friday Tidy and I'm going to spend the afternoon with a friend.

Nothing much else to tell you so I will wish everyone a happy day and send positive thoughts to those of us who are unwell, worried or sad.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Hi both and everyone who has a sensible get up time :D

3.30 again for me I think maybe it was you this time TA :rotfl:

Off in a bit though in the vain hope that I will miss the major traffic on the M6 to Birmingham ....yeah I know cue the hysterical laughter. Actually heading to Telford so hoping the weather there is as mild there as it is here....no ice no snow no rain its heaven.

Not sure if I am looking forward today as its Negotiation Skills again so hoping the group are a little less egotistical than the last lot. If not i'll be heading home nice and early again  Working at 7 tonight too so its going to be a horribly long day but after that I am off for a few days and really need some sleep

Mum day update....I have had worse for sure or maybe it's my tolerance increasing. She had an embarrassing paddy when there were no small trolleys and she did this uber dramatic attempt to push a large trolley with a very poor acting attempt at pushing it like it was full of lead :rotfl: you had to be there but acting is not in her blood :D Of course it was all because it was Thursday not Tuesday although a quick word with the staff confirmed they were replacing all the small ones...unlucky day to choose Morrisons I of course got the blame.

Car park gastronomy sorted which today is a ham and salad sandwich after watching too many episodes of Big Bang with the lovely sandwich at the start.

Right time to move my !!! :) Have a great day all

    Morning All

Well done on the weight loss Bozwood.
    Dumpling, that's awful, she's not a friend.
Glad your DM has taken the Drs advice Gers.

Very mild here compared to the past week, I think we are due to reach the giddy heights of 10 degrees today! My driveway was covered in black ice yesterday, I had a good laugh to myself trying to slide around and defrost the car, hope nobody was watching.

Had a lovely meet up with friends yesterday, I was very good and had a salad although to be fair I do enjoy their salads anyway.

Last day of the working week for me with an early finish, I always look forward to that.

Have a hug if you need one, anyone seen tru? Take care. XX
  • Morning all and thanks DUMPLING. I made it till 4.00 this morning so don't you go blaming me NELSKI! It feels unbelievably mild this morning up to what we've been having. 7 deg on outdoor thermometer!

All 3 DGDs still in the land of nod so enjoying a bit more peace before I need wake them up. Eldest is the worst - can't get her to bed and can't get her out of it next morning! I have bed envy!

DUMPLING yes almost spot on, with the addition of a topping of a very cheesy sauce and even more cheese sprinkled over the top. Not to be found on the WeightWatchers menu!!

Being that day again it's the Friday Tidy for me and much needed it is!

Went to Aldi with DS as planned yesterday and (almost) managed to stick to my list! So the fridge and fruit/veg stocks are nicely topped up. Just a small gammon joint, not on the list, found it's way into my trolley as they were on offer and I couldn't resist.

Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely and take care all xx

    Morning everyone

dumpling - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still pitch black, wet underfoot - temperature has risen and it's been raining during the night so wet underfoot, rain is forecast for today too.

DH up and gone to work as has DS1, DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly, he'll want brekkie and cuppa, then he'll come with me to do the food shopping, the walk to then gym from there.

Dinner last night was egg, bacon, sausage, potato croquettes,(as couldn't get any hash browns), black pudding, mushrooms, baked beans and toast. Tonight will be something and chips for the menfolk I'll probably have mushroom omelette and salad or use some LO's in the fridge, probably be a strange combination.

Yesterday was reasonably productive, I got the mistake I made rectified and everything to do with that now sorted, just need to wait for paperwork/online to show. Load of B****y fuss from DH over something that could be sorted, he was all calm and overly nice yesterday - it's just so draining, it's worse than having another small child, he doesn't organise anything at home - all the day to day admin and housework etc is done by me - he wouldn't have a clue. Thanks for your words of support.

I got a call from the garage yesterday saying that the company supplying the part for my car had rang to say the order is delayed and won't be delivered until early next week, so did I want to go and collect my car - so I did, my car is now booked in to go back next week for the part to be fitted so long as it's arrived. Not an issue as I get a courtesy car and this time they'll give me a small one (which in fairness is what I usually get).

Today will be spent, food shopping, dentist, must tackle the ironing and will strip and remake our bed. Have a couple of other jobs on the "to do" list which will be good to get out of the way.

    Keep safe and well x

Raining and very wet here which is a bit of a relief compared to yesterday it was -5 ii the morning and only 3 deg at work  I managed to get hold of two fan heaters and had them on all day and we got up to the dizzy heights of 10deg by the end of the day !! Hopefully today will be a bit better.

Cleaner coming today so it will all be tidy when we come in tonight and something with chips for dinner, will do a wash tonight too ready to dry tomorrow.

Right best get on have good days all xx

    Good morning all,

Wow dumpling, what a horrendous day you had yesterday! Ring the doctors. It's better to have the extra pain relief and not need it than it is to not have it but need it.

Candy I'm glad Zeus is ok and that you have both of the menaces home and well.

I'm going running this morning. It's been so long out of the routine that I think I'm going to start the couch to 5k again from the beginning. My back is starting to ache again here and there so I really need to get going again. I'm also freezing cold most of the time so my circulation needs a boost. When I come home afterwards I need to do a quick hoover round upstairs and then I can carry on with the baby cardigan that I started knitting yesterday.

Take care all of you :)

    Good morning everyone.

It’s such a contrast outside to yesterday, the mild weather won’t last long but it’s a very welcome respite.

Dumpling - your ‘friend’ behaved outrageously and selfishly. I was horrified that she ignored your text, came anyway and stayed for ten hours. That’s no friend, just toxic and one to drop quickly. I hope you’re able to have a better day today.

Yesterday my DM managed her outing well. Once finished at the dentist she wanted to walk a short distance to a gift shop so we did that. She bought a birthday present for a friend and was delighted by it. Inevitably on the drive home she asked to go to T esco! Whilst I go have done without it I really couldn’t say no, she hasn’t done any shopping for weeks. So, there’s me back in the cafe as she pootled off slowly to buy herring. Of course, she bought so much more. :rotfl: And she met an old friend so double joy.

Today...I just don’t know yet. I have a hankering to go into town for a wander. I also want to call into Kelvingrove Museum to see Dippy which has just been installed. Last saw it in London many years ago.

Whatever you have planned I hope all goes well. Happy Friday to all.
