Which Eligibility Checker To Trust?

Really as the title says, they all seem to be conflicting...

As you can see below the figures seem to be all over the place, but exactly the same address and earnings etc entered.

Does anyone find one more reliable than the next?

Here are my examples.

MSE Eligibility Checker:

Amex - 90%
HSBC - 80%
Virgin - 0%
Halifax - 70%
Santander - 20%
Barclaycard - 95%

Noddle Eligibility Checker:

Amex - 0%
HSBC - 20%
Virgin - Pre Aprroved 100%
Halifax - 30%
Santander - 30%
Barclaycard - 90%

Money Supermarket Eligibility Checker:

Amex - 40%
HSBC - 50%
Virgin - 20%
Santander - 50%
Halifax - 70%
Barclaycard - 95%

  • Use the ones on the lenders websites if you have a particular interest for a lender
  • Yes Gary, I would love the Virgin card, but there own sites Eligibility Checker it says I’m not currently eligible.

However if I click Noddle pre approved link, it takes me to there site saying I am 100% pre approved at the rate displayed.

    Not confusing much!
  • You really shouldn't be going just by the random deals that get offered to you via a generalised sweep of customers - there has to be due diligence on your own part !

No-one should enter into any deal/transaction without carrying out as much of their own full research first.

Many factors will influence the lender, so go into things with your eyes open and you'll see what the lender does - you'll see if you're a desirable customer to them, or if you're not.
  • What on Earth are you talking about Catsacor
  • It appears that eligibility checkers are about as useful as a credit score...They are all just marketing tools...

  • So I just wanted to provide an update here, as others may find this useful.

I emailed Noddle who use Totally Money for their eligibility checker.

100% Pre Approved for the APR shown apparently is not 100% pre approved.

If it says 100% pre approved with APR shown, it is only if you pass the lenders checks they are guaranteed to get that rate. That’s not just the standard fraud checks etc, they mean the lenders credit check.

They said to be 100% pre approved for that it would need to say Card Approved at 100%.

    Not misleading much.....
  • The same for any "pre-approval"

It's always subject to final checks and a full credit (hard) search

In my experience, I used Totally Money and had a 0% chance of being approved for an Amex card. Applied anyway as I didnt have any adverse credit I was aware of.

Instantly approved with a £8 limit, so take those checkers with a pinch of salt...same as your credit score
  • Gary I think your missing the point of what I’m trying to say here...
