I've used AnyJunk before and they were really great. No hassle and have a 96% landfill diversion rate

Hmmm... so you joined today, in order to dig up an old thread about removals companies.

And weirdly, you post a recommendation for rubbish clearance company. (So you didn't even bother reading the thread to see what it was about.)

Is it just me, or ...

We are going through a similar thing, we are moving 250 miles and have been quoted £3.4k & £2.9k. The house contents is equivalent to 2 bed, but we have bikes, camping stuff and tools. They are not really interested in non square box moves. It would be much less if the distance didn't necessitate an overnight stop.
The £2.9k was on the basis that we took the shed & garage contents ourselves.
We have instead taken a storage unit closer to the new house and will move the remainder on the day. Sorting the stuff is quite cathartic actually, and we had decluttered prior to marketing our house.
It will cost us £1.2k to do it ourselves including the costs associated with the storage unit part of the exercise.

  • Why report it? I've just read through it and I'm thinking about going this way, having previously thought it would be horrendously expensive.

My folks moved around 100 miles away and it was £1300 which seems an incredible amount.
I'm moving 5, and £500 might be an expense well worth paying, particularly as we are moving out of rented and have a considerable amount of cleaning once it's done.
The smaller the monkey the more it looks like it would kill you at the first given opportunity.

    Confusion reigns!

Post #31 was spam. Post #32 wasn't spam (although it's been added to an old thread).

When post #31 was deleted (for being spam), all later posts were re-numberd.

So post #32 (which wasn't spam) has been re-numbered to post #31
  • We’re in the process of getting quotes we’ve got 3 properties to move from Hertfordshire to Lincolnshire hubby did suggest doing it himself but I said we’d bite the bullet & pay the professionals to do it

Our house sale and purchase are currently underway with searches in progress at the moment from both parties.
Starting to prepare for moving day in terms of researching removals companies and costs vs hiring a van and doing it ourselves.
As I’ve never moved before and I’ve never needed a removals service, I was wondering what average prices to expect are??

It’s a 2 bed house, not a huge amount of furniture really. We will box everything up ourselves but would be hoping to bring a company in to help with the lifting and moving of our larger goods.

Aware that price will vary on location etc, but just wondering on a very rough average of cost to expect before my quotes start coming in?

    Thank you 👍🏼
You said right that pricing vary from location to locations and it also depend upon distance or time taken. I think the price will be around $100-$150 for half an hour  Last year i also hire a moving company for relocation and they charge descent charges for that. The movement of household items can prove quite a challenge. This kind of move requires experts to make sure that everything is transported safely and to the destination where it’s required.  Whichever you hire please ensure that they give you some additional services like:- free Moving Boxes, Pack Clothes on Hangers, Carefully Pack Fragile items and many more as thing looks small but are really important for an easy and quicker relocation. Some movers save their expense as not providing these services which eventually leads you to buy more money wasting things. So to save your money done some research about your moving company , their customer review, and be clear about everything you need to know for relocation.
    Happy journey buddy
