Nine UC payments = Mortage SMI

Don't forget that if you have any earnings at all while you're claiming UC you won't be able to apply for SMI loan. This includes the nine month waiting period - if you even work one hour the clock will be reset and you'll have to start your waiting period again.0

Interesting I thought I could continue working part time as I have been with WTC(+PIP)
Are you suggesting I'de have to be NOT working at all.
Or could I work with UC, then have 9 UC payments, then apply for SMI loan-is that the help with mortgage interest type loan.

See this link, it confirms what willow has advised.
https://www.entitledto.co.uk/help/Support-for-mortgage-interest-Universal-Credit
Taken from the link above.- have been receiving Universal Credit, Jobseeker's Allowance (contribution-based) or Employment and Support Allowance (contribution-based) continuously for 9 assessment periods (9 months)
- have not had any earned income during that time

I must be mistaken , as I thought UC was replacing WTC therefore I could continue working part time.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -
Then I'll continue working for some time until auto switchover to UC and review my M.S. from that time as I'll possibly be renting by then and may not require SMI,Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. There's no disability element of UC, the equivalent is LCWRA and sick notes are needed for that and a work capability assessment. However, when we do eventually move across there will be a transitional support protection in place to we won't be worse off.
Savings/capital also affect UC because it's means tested and any savings of £16,000 or more then you won't be entitled to claim it. If you sell your home in the future any capital from that will affect it, if it's more than this amount.0 -

Thanks so there isn't any 'housing type benefit' for in work people who move over to UC.
Forgive my lack of understating as only knowledge I have is from Atos for PIP reviews.
If for example I sold my mortgaged flat and moved into council rental property, is there any help for rent-as it seems no help for Mortgage interest at least whilst in work.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. If you sell your home and there's any profit from it then anything £6,000 and over the UC is affected £1 for every £250 over that amount. £16,000 or more you won't be entitled to claim any means tested benefits at all. The housing element is part of UC which is means tested.
The waiting lists for social housing are huge across all of the country and if you're single living alone, then you have almost zero chance of getting a social housing property.
Your only chance would be to privately rent.0 -
Thanks @Poppy
Private rent could indeed be an option if required though although I have some short stairs to climb in my mortgaged flat, it's not ideal with m.s. in future years.
There's seems to be a distinct lack of private rental flats as I did an online search before going part time approx 2017 -the choice of private rentals was considerable.
This year there seems to be very little choice and for rental costs which are considerably higher than my current mortgage.
16K privaye selling profit you kindly mention I would think in my case is negligible as any profit I think could be 10K or less after selling fees.
Thanks that's plenty of detailed thought which in my case can of course change swiftly depending on how fast m.s. progresses.
It could be nice to find a suitable quiet private rental flat over next year or two, meanwhile I'll hopefully swap mortgage onto Tracker from 2nd Feb approx which would take away any early repayment fees in effect allowing me to possibly sell if and when I have a flat to move into.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge.
