Traffic Offence Report (TOR)

Hi
Today I had the pleasure of getting a Traffic Offence Report (TOR) Code 210 (speeding). My insurance with Admiral is due for renewal tomorrow.
Admiral ask if I have any convictions or pending convictions. My understanding is that thus far they have not served me with the notice of intended prosecution (NIP) so I dont have to declare this at renewal. Anyone got any experience with this?
Thanks

Best phoning them to ask, that way you get an official answer.0

and if you declare it once the policy has started there may be an admin fee plus as the policy is already live they have you as a captive customer so the increase will not be avoidable.0

You'd have to declare it once known when the policy is active, it's there in the T&Cs.0 -
I assume that you were stopped by the Police and given the TOR at the time.
If so, you would have been given a verbal NIP on the spot.

"You are given a Traffic Offence Report because the issuing officer believes there is sufficient evidence to prosecute you for an offence, however you may benefit from attending a driver training course as an alternative to a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) or a court appearance. Warwickshire Police is committed to road safety and participates in the National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme (NDORS), seeking to educate rather than prosecute.
You may be eligible for a NDORS course depending on:
the nature of the offence;
your previous record of offending (if any);
any previous course you have attended or are waiting to attend as a result of committing a previous offence"
Sounds like the TOR is the NIP. If it was verbal and the officer didn't formally give it I'm sure he will write it up in his written evidence anyway.0 -

Thanks all. The TOR specifically has a box to tick 'Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP) Verbal' that has not been checked so my understanding is that this hasnt been given.
Also why would I need to call them once it is served? You dont have to tell them during your policy if you get a ticket?0 -

I believe that it depends on the individual insurers and what your policy T&C's state.
Some will ask that you inform them immediately and others when the policy is due.
My policy (Aviva) states:
If any of the information provided by you changes after you
purchase your policy and during the period of your policy please
provide us with details by contacting 0345 030 6984.

Admiral's terms state:2. Please tell us immediately
- if you or any driver named on your policy have been disqualified from driving, your entitlement to drive has been suspended or withdrawn (revoked) or your driving licence status has changed
3. Please tell us when you renew your insurance
- of any motoring offences including fixed penalties, convictions, driver awareness course or disqualifications you or any driver on your policy had during the year, or any pending prosecutions. you will need to tell us of the DVLA offence code if applicable.
So only at renewal, which means it is just the question of whether or not getting this TOR is a pending prosecution or not?0 -
