Stopping flat batteries
Hi
Basically I've got mind like a sieve sometimes and leave my lights on like the other day and get to car with a flat battery, my Jump starter wouldn't Jump start it and I have cables but no one around to help me out.
I've got a decent battery that's not too old but what devices can I get to try and make sure I don't end up with that issue again? I've heard of trickle chargers or something but thought someone with abit more knowledge may help.
Cheers 👍

How old is your car? Doesn’t it sound an alarm if you try to leave with the lights on?
If not, there may be aftermarket alarms. Try Google.0 -
It does sound an alarm that's the daft thing, it was 5 am and that's my only excuse lol.
It's 2011 model and battery replaced for the best I could get about 1 year ago.
I know it's my fault, was just looking for a backup option, more annoyed my Jump starting kit didn't start it up0 -
If the alarm sounds and you ignore it then not much more you can do other than be more awake (which opens up lots more concerning questions!)

Put something you won't leave the car without (or would definitely go back out to get, like your mobile) in the glovebox. Put a post-it on the inside of the glove box reminding you to turn off the lights.0

I've been driving for 15 years now you'd think I'd remember to turn the lights off , some.good.ideas here though lol0

Park on a hill.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Any decent motor factor will sell you a battery charger, so you can recharge the battery before it's completely wrecked. The longer a battery is left flat, the less chance it will ever hold a charge properly.
But that won't stop you leaving the lights on. And there's no chance that you will remember to connect up the charger at 5am, but not remember to turn off the lights. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
Get an auto electrician to wire up the lights to only work with the ignition on.
But you'll get used to it and have to have it done to every car you have in the future.....0
