Delays in receiving OTP from Lloyds/Halifax/BOS?

Am I the only one?!

About half of the One Time Passcode (OTP) phone calls I get when setting up a new payment or standing order arrive AFTER the four digit code on the screen has timed out. This is waiting for a landline call, haven't tried often enough using my mobile to know if its a delay on the landline providers side or the banks.

What then happens is I refresh the screen, the call comes through after about a minute and the original OTP won't work nor the new OTP which then flags up a fraud error and have to answer two security questions to proceed.

Lloyds blame the delay on the landline provider. Proof of this being it worked theone time I tried using my mobile! I don't know. Very frustrating and hardly user friendly as I have to input all the details again and even then it can happen again.

Is this a problem others experience especially from Lloyds Banking group?

No problems with this using Halifax, but I do only use it via a mobile phone.

I have always used my mobile and it is always within a few seconds. It's not as though I'm paying for the call ;)

I've never had a problem with either Lloyds or Halifax, both landline and mobile.

The call is pretty well instantaneous
This is on a BT standard landline.

Have you tried sending a text to your landline either from your own mobile phone or have someone else to it to see if there is any delay
  • Thanks for all the replies.
Have used my mobile to call my landline, its immediate.
When the computer screen shows the OTP it also states the call is in process. I believe there's a delay from Lloyds rather than my network provider. I can't prove it though and Lloyds denied it and blamed the network provider. I don't have any problem with TSB doing the same process and never have. I have it as a recurring problem with Lloyds, Halifax and BOS over months though.

I will now opt for the mobile call and see how it goes!

Like most of the others, I've never had any problem with Lloyds or Halifax, the call always comes within 2 or 3 seconds.
