  • Hello everyone, I've taken a flying start to the day and just settling down for my first cuppa just now. It is indeed chilly outside but so far I feel toasty because I've been moving about.

Thanks for the update on Holly, Nelski. And glad that Granny dp1's baby granddaughter is making progress. Fingers crossed for a move to the closer hospital.

I'm with you, RosyRed on the pairing of apple with mincemeat, it is delicious especially when some baking apples can lack a bit of flavour. I always stuff baked apples with mincemeat, with extra round them and a touch of water which prevents any juices which run out of the apples from burning and makes a nice sauce for spooning over. Mmm, I have a baking apple and that's inspired me to have it after lunch :)

Yoga tonight, and I'll just have something light before I go.

Hoping Steve's first chemo session goes as well as possible. Sending virtual hugs to land where they're needed. All the best to everyone for the best day possible. xxx

    Hello all
Mr Fix It was in Al*is at 8am to get a couple of heaters for his shed, I on the other hand was still in the land of nod..... serves me right for staying awake till 2.30 am waiting to see the eclipse . Unfortunately the clouds rolled in and I saw nothing
This morning we have done a tip trip with 4 very large bags of old shed wood and I have stripped the bed, emptied the DW and fed the birds. I'm having a quick coffee then I will strip the chicken and Mr Fix It will make a curry with the leftovers. We will have the curry with some rice for tea :j.
After lunch I have a lot of paper to shred and then it will go out this evening with the recycling. I have to remake the bed and clean the bedroom but I won't put the hoover on until the shredding is done. The bedding needs to go in the WM at some point too.
Nelski the only things I liked about a fair was the 1d slots, the haunted house/churchyard and the horse carousel. I'm still scared to go on any rides unless they are the kiddie ones like the tea cups and unfortunately the DGC are too big to go on now, so I can't use that excuse anymore :rotfl:Thanks for the update on Holly and enjoy your day, I hope you win big :T
Holly keep your chin up lovely, seems like you're doing fine :A
Snoozer I hope today goes OK for you and Steve today. I have everything crossed for you.
ScarlettR I hope you get some answers today.

Right must get going I suppose, please give me a push someone. I'm fine till I sit down and then I don't want to get started again :rotfl:.
Take care and hugs all round today.
    nan xx

Morning!Nope! Afternoon! Went out last night and had a very enjoyable time talking rubbish and singing along to stuff at the end of the night..Paying for it a bit this morning....Tried putting the heating on because it's quite nippy but nothing happened so the fire is on instead, roaring and popping and crackling away..
Today I was going to go the bank, and do some panic shopping to fill up some hoarders gaps in the cupboards [ pre-Brexit panic buying] and the dreaded toilet roll. For some reason, I really hate buying toilet roll, so I buy the biggest packs I can find so it lasts that much longer.
Will have to work out what's left everywhere before I make a shopping list though and start moving ready meals to one freezer and everything else to the other.
Am also going to have a look at some seed sites, I think I'll be growing a lot more this year, the compost heap is looking good for pumpkins. Just wondering if I can dig out a patch before Wednesday :)
Also have to buy a couple of fluorescent tubes, the ones in the kitchen and lean to have gone. I was going to swap the lights out and put new strip lighting in but I've been told in no uncertain terms I am not allowed to do anything....I am going to listen for once because I really didn't fancy doing it, I just thought it'd be cheaper to run leds rather than the tubes because the light is always on in the night.

Good luck to steve snoozer, enjoy your sandwich and tipping points Nelski [ I did go to take the liver out of the freezer yesterday but realised I didn'thave any bacon left to go with it!!] hope the meds are not too bad csarina, Scarlet, go to the docs, go directly to the docs and do not pass GO! seriously, if they won't give you a appointment, [and they should, once you mention infection , lymphodema and no lymph nodes] go to an urgent care center if you have one, or a walk in center or A&E.

Hope today is as good as it can be for everyone..Chin up for Monday, or chin chin Monday [ know which one I'd prefer]

Good morning, and thanks Nelski for starting off, and updating us on Holly.

There's a hard frost this morning, I know the forecast is dire, but we'll see.

I'm going to try(!!) to get a doctors appt this morning, I think I've got lymphodaema. I've got a hot red swollen arm and feel shivery. It actually looks and feels a bit better today, but I need to know if it is that, or what. I think it is that though, it's on the side where I've had lymph glands removed,

Hi SR it certainly sounds like it I have this and I get a flare up about once or twice a year ,or if I have cut, scratched or grazed my bad arm it goes bright red and the feeling of being a bad dose of 'flu with shivery hot and cold chills.I have to keep a course of antibiotics in my house for such occasions, and just go to bed take the anti-bio's and wait for the infection to pass.

I even take the full course with me on holiday just in case as if I don't start them straight away I end up on a drip of them in hospital as it can make you feel extremely poorly very quickly.

I have been told by the consultant oncologist that as I age (and I'm definitely not in the first flush of youth now and haven't been for many years :)) there may come a time when I will have to have a low continuous dose daily for the rest of my days ,but so far touch wood its not got there yet I obviously have a few more miles to go on my body clock :)I too had the majority of the lymph nodes removed when I had a mastectomy 11 years ago. blooming nuisance at times as I cannot get that arm sunburned and have to keep it covered when sunbathing with a light chiffon scarf, plus buying clothes are a nightmare at times because even with a 'sleeve' it never goes back to its normal size all my clothes have to be about two sizes bigger because of my wonky arm, but if it means I can live, rather than have cancer I'll take that

Go to the Drs and you will be given antibiotics I expect ,but don't leave it whatever you do,if you can't get an appointment go to A&E or a walk in centre

Very cold here at the moment and I whizzed around the shops this morning ,only the second shop of the month and really pleased at the result.I have made some odd meals up from bits in the freezer over the past couple of weeks which has meant only one food shop this month.today's one just did a bit of topping up :) well under budget this month.

Tonight it's W.I. night which I always enjoy, and tomorrow morning its hairdressers and in the evening its Pub quiz night so two nights in a row I am out gallivanting :)

Glad to hear HOLLY is coping well, I can understand how she feels having been there myself Cancer changes your outlook on life, and things that seem to be so worrying at the time becomes almost insignificant by comparison. Fingers crossed that she continues to get better.

Keep wrapped up warm and dry chums

  • Thank for all the good wishes people.

Jackie, I knew you suffered from lymphodoema, I think you had it recently, I remember your posts. I had the bad dose of flu feeling yesterday, I felt like the walking dead.

I managed to get an appointment, and the doctor said she didn't think it was lymphodoema, She thought it was an inflammatory reaction to something. It's now spotty as well as swollen and red. I had a blood test, and am going back on Wednesday to see the doc again, she'll have the results.
I'm pleased it's not lymphoedema anyway. Oddly, I can use my elbow, the brightest red bit, perfectly well, just can't lean on it, it's too painful.

I feel much better today, but haven't done much, a bit of tidying and sorting, that's all really.

Speky your kitchen lights sound great, I like anything like that. I frequently change the screen colour on my phone !!

    Thanks again folks

Thanks for the good wishes. So far so good, but of course it's early days yet. He has anti-sickness tablets if he needs them, plus another three sorts. He is bothered by that because he's never taken tablets before apart from the odd course of anti-b's and pain killers.
