Morning everyone, thanks for the start Nelski and for news on our Holly, good to hear that she is in positive spirits.
Grey and foggy here today, I was awake in the early hours but no sign of the blood moon with so much cloud, shame as it was beautifully clear earlier in the evening.
Only plans for today are a bit of fresh food shopping and a Lulu visit.
Hugs to all poorlies and those with worries and cares, have a good day folks x0 -
Good mornng all
Thank you for starting us off Nelski. Good good luck on the penny machines.
Pleased to hear Holly is more upbeat
Dp1 hope you dgd continues to improve
Felt cold when I woke this morning, white frost on the lawn, heating on, no plans to go out.
I think soup will be on the menu and I'll get some casserole beef out of the freezer to put in the sc tomorrow.
take care allIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning everyone,
I've not been able to post since Thursday as everything has been quite busy. Not that I am complaining.
On Thursday, my boss told me he had over promised a client and as such was on a really tight deadline. I offered to help, which meant I was still working at 1am. Went to back and back in the office for 8am to complete everything. His client shared feedback that night and seemed appreciative.
At the turn of the year I decided to get cardio fit again. Every since I hurt myself at football a few years ago, I resigned myself to playing 5 or 7 a side, but since I came down to Manchester I thought that joining a team would be a good way to meet new people and also to motivate myself to get fit and importantly, fix any ailments. Nike have a cool app that will create a plan for you based on some stats you provide, so I've been trying to keep to that. It asks that I run 3 times a week, at various distances (very short for now). So I managed to squeeze in a couple of runs on Friday and Saturday.
Also on Saturday, my landlord came to fit new lights for under my kitchen cabinets and he fitted the Phillips Hue style. So I now have an app on my phone which controls all my lights and can change to any colour I like. My mind is blown and I've had of lots of fun with it. Just need to be careful it doesn't look like my flat is part of the red light district now!!
Got a check through from the council in Scotland as i had overpaid my council tax, which is a nice little gift to receive. I'll need to cash it tomorrow as I forgot to bring it with me to work.
Last night I prepped my soup for this weeks lunches (leek, bacon and chicken) and some small desserts for after my dinners (strawberry fools). I've got all my ingredients in for the week ahead, so don't plan on spending until Saturday again. Frustratingly, my Sunday NSD was scuppered as I realised I was missing coconut milk as part of a recipe for dinner!!
Right, well I best get on for now. Have a good day everyone.
Nelski - As a child, 50p was lots, especially if it's in change! Good luck. And thanks for the Holly update, glad to hear she's doing well.0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one. Thanks for the news of Holly, Nelski. She certainly sounds more positive, I had a smile too at her comment.
Its double brrrrr this morning I have had to turn the heating up, the sitting room is decidedly chilly.
First of my weekly tablets taken with two large glasses of water, had a job to drink the second one, but managed in short bursts. Then got back into bed and sat up reading until it was time for my breakfast. Not allowed to lay down, its sit or stand up for at least half an hour after taking it
OH is going to the evergreens today, I have an appointment with the physio at 2.30, so will pick him up at the back of 3.00pm. I need to go to Morrison for a couple of things.
Cold chicken for supper tonight, with a jacket spud and salad. Dessert will be lemon drizzle cake with marscapone.0 -
Nelski, thanks for the update on Holly, I'm glad she's coping well.
dp1, that must have been really scary, I'm glad she's ok.
Speky, I'm sure your boss appreciated your help, just watch that he doesn't do it too often. Crystal and Chris have both had bosses who seem to expect them to work into the early hours to finish pieces of work.
Well, today is d-day - first chemo this afternoon. Hopefully the side effects won't be too great, he's having chemo by itself this time but from the next cycle will have immunotherapy as well and the treatment lasts all day. In some ways we're both glad it's happening as it's been distressing to see the change in him over the last three months. He still looks very fit and healthy and I'm sure a lot of people don't see a difference but we do.0 -
Morning everybody,it's really foggy here in our part of the NW.Quite eery when I took the hound on the park at 8.I might pop up to see old Auntie in a bit.Her house backs onto the park so she'll not be seeing much out of her kitchen window this morning.I've not seen her since just before Xmas due to lurgy. We didnt go to our friends yesterday- DH wanted a quiet day but I think that was more to do with beer imbibed at the party on Sat night rather than lingering lurgy
,though he is still coughing.
I was excited to find my 1st doorstep milk delivery from the local farm this morning, glass bottles too :jI might start getting eggs too. There was a pic on the website, all colours inc. some bluey ones
I've got some Red Thai chicken mix out for tea,it's from the butchers & is delish.Gammon for DS1 who doesn't eat chicken. Last night we had apple crumble .I put in half a jar of mincemeat that had been lurking in the fridge since Xmas mince pie making, I got compliments all round
Theres a bit left for tonight which DH will polish off.
Glad to hear Holly is doing well :T
DP1 nice to hear DGD is improving. DS friends baby boy was allowed home on Friday after being poorly after birth,he was in hospital for 2 weeks.
Well wishes to anyone struggling, and for Snoozer and Steve for his 1st chemo- hope it goes well xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
dp1 I've just read back over yesterday's posts, I'm sorry to hear that your grandbaby has been unwell but good that a move to a closer hospital is on the horizon.
Snoozer, I hope all goes well with Steve's chemo.
Candygirl, sounds as though Zeus is getting better, hooray.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -

Not much to tell here it was freezing this morning -3 I started my diet today and my supportive DH has asked me to go and get cakes for the office for his birthday:mad:
Dinner tonight prawns n salad
hugs to all those who are struggling or who are unwell
Have a great day whatever you are up to xxSlava Ukraini0 -
Morning everyone. Thanks Nelski on the update on Holly. It’s frerxing here today but I don’t mind as I’m on a week off work so don’t have to go out, apart from taking pixie out for a walk.
I saw a good idea for money saving on another site, each night you check your bank account and transfer any odd pence into your saving account. For example if your balance is £105.61 you transfer the 61p into your savings, obviously you need internet banking. The person who posted had saved £300 odd pound in a year and as the daily amounts are small you don’t notice it. I’m going to give this a go for Christmas.0 -
Just popping back on to say I hope all goes well for SNOOZER'S STEVE this afternoon. Plus I hope SCARLET R managed to get an appointment with a doctor. Our surgery is just the same. It's like facing the Spanish Inquisition when you ask for an urgent appointment.
I have done a small decluttering job!! I have a wicker hamper that was stuffed with freebie hotel toiletries, unwanted lotions etc from gift sets, discarded make up, useless hair products etc. I have bagged up all the little shampoo and shower gel bottles to give to DD in the hope they will come in for the DGDs after swimming. Unopened lotions have gone in the charity bag and everything half used and discarded has been binned. Even the wicker hamper has gone in the bin! Anything worth keeping has gone in my toiletries drawer under the bed.
Many more jobs await for when the mood comes back again!
Double posting with CLIFFSGIRL. That's a good idea and one I would never have thought of."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0
