The question was what will happen next, so what was wrong with the answer? It's not like I claimed a parking ticket carries points.

Implicit in the question was information, more than just the court summons. You know what comes next, you also know what the best steps to take. You can answer the question more helpfully but choose not to. Seems to be an odd position to me.

Then why was I given 3 points and a fine for doing 33 in a 30mph area?
It depends on the particular county.

    Where was this?

    I doubt that you were.

The "110% plus 2" rule comes from the ACPO guidelines, and those guidelines specifically allow officers to depart from the rule if appropriate.

However, no-one has yet provided any evidence (other than anecdotal) of a prosecution below the guideline level.

Nor is their any evidence that any particular county or force do not follow the guidelines, although some chief constables have threatened to do so.

    Would this be evidence enough?

    1) Can you confirm if your force uses the thresholds as published in the "ACPO Speed Enforcement Policy Guidelines 2011 - 2015: Joining Forces for Safer Roads" version 3.0 document as a basis for policy influencing decisions on whether to prosecute motorists found speeding? Section 9.6 has the relevant table and can be found here: http://www.acpo.police.uk/documents/uniformed/2013/201305-uoba-joining-forces-safer-roads.pdf

We can confirm that Dorset Police currently follow ACPO Guidance as per the link given above, except in the case of a 30mph zone. All decisions will always be at the Chief Constable’s discretion.

Thanks for that. The fact that they haven’t actually prosecuted anyone under 35 in a 30 suggests that they’re employing a HIGHER threshold.

Do you have links to the threads/case you are referring to?

I haven't seen Pepipoo advise ignoring PPC notices for years and have never seen them advise ignoring court papers or court orders so I am finding it very difficult to believe anyone "ended up with a CCJ" as a result of such advice.

I'm no fan of Pepipoo but I'm even less of a fan of fake news. In my opinion Pepipoo have some major issues and by all means berate them for any of the following but bad advice regarding CCJs is not something I've seen before.
    • One of the worst web site names in the history of the Internet
    • Hypocritical moderators who seem to have a god complex
    • Most Pepipoo posters spend more time point-scoring against other posters than actually helping out motorists with problems
    Sounds like here

Not really. The moderators are hardly ever seen. They are the scarlet pimpernell of forum world.

Ah yes Pepipoo who advise to ignore PPC notices which one person posting on another board on here did and ended up with a CCJ.
Before October 2012 then ignoring the PPC was the correct advice. (Ignoring court claims has NEVER been the advice - here or at Pepipoo. The CCJ to which you refer could have happened for a number of reasons - most probably the poster in question misunderstanding the advice). Since early 2013 (once POFA 2012 was properly understood) then ignoring has never been advised by any forum regular.

That will be because the forum is not moderated:

    Why isn't the forum moderated?
There are thousands of posts made on the forum every day, it would be impossible for someone to read them all. Also, if we were to read and approve every post, we might become responsible for any unlawful information within those posts.

We want to protect our users as much as we can, so we have a 'report-a-post' system (see How do I report an inappropriate post?). Only after going through this process are posts legally deemed as being published by the site.
