  • After waiting in vain for the snow to melt on the front steps I braved my inner wimp and gingerly tottered down them! They are sloping steps which are lethal in snow and ice. Years ago I slipped and crashed down them and ever since I have been ultra careful in adverse weather!

I set off muffled up like Nanook of the North and, as is always the case, by the time I got down into town there was no sign of snow! It's always a topcoat warmer down there.

I decided to pass on Ilkley and just stay in town. Got 2 Well Done cards no problem but nothing Aladdinified anywhere. The last two pantos were Peter Pan and Cinderella and it was much easier spotting mementos for them. So it was a gift card each to spend on what they choose!

Came home to find the snow still up here but there was less of it so a slow thaw in progress. Apparently there is much worse to come next week.

REDRUBY I never thought about audio books. Good idea. But not sure about Sudoku and brain training as I think they would keep me awake and not lull me to sleep.

It's now an afternoon of feet up for me too and blow the jobs which the hip pain stopped me doing yesterday. Nothing waits like neglected jobs!

    Take care all x

Afternoon folks - I made it back home. There's only snow on the tops of the Rest, no rain, bare cloud and low winter sun made for a lovely drive.

I did DM's shopping and mine at the same time. My only needs were cauliflower and cheese along with apples, I really enjoy Coxs rather than the over-sweet ones.

The bird feeders have been filled and I've unpacked my bag. Now I have my feet up, have the woodburner on, am wrapped in my throw and feeling very relaxed. I'll aim for an early night as last week was full on.

It's been great to read of everyone's day, makes mine sound ultra dull though it doesn't feel like it.

Good evening chums did my round trip this morning with DGS Jack and DGS Henry along to help lug all the food shopping up to Jacks room in Halls at Hertfordshire.
He has around £25 to last him until the end of the month but enough food to last him for about 5 weeks as not only did I get him three big bagfuls of staples, but his Auntie Shelley (my eldest DD) forked out for some as well and one of his workmates at the coffee shop(lovely Hannah :)) brought him a big box of goodies and left over bits from home for him.His sister Katie provided lots of toiletries etc and his Mum and Dad also stumped up with groceries as well so he won't starve .

The extra shifts he has done since Christmas he will get paid for in February which is a bonus for him and he's worked out he has enough to get through this term.
It took three trips from my car to his room to get all the stuff up there :) so I know he has enough food at least .

5 weeks tomorrow he will be 19, and we are all going up to see him and will take more food if needed and will treat him to a proper roast dinner as well.

I treated DGS Henry to a Harry Ramsdens fish and chips at the services on the way home as he loves them. He has applied to Essex Uni for this coming September to do Economics so I can see me doing a lot more too-ing and fro-ing on the M25 ,either to Colchester with Henry or Hatfield for Jack. :)

This afternoon I relaxed and put my feet up and read my book which is very good, Cass Green's 'Don't You Cry' which is a real page turner.

The weather wasn't too bad today and the roads were clear but its suddenly had quite a drop in temperature so my heating is going back on shortly. I am going to watch the Lucy Worsley programme on catch-up in a minute as I recorded it.I do enjoy her history programmes

Hope everyone is warm and dry, not a night to be out I think, anyone else enjoying 'Les Mis' on Sunday nights, I have seen the musical twice and also read the book years ago, but I am really enjoying the screening of the story

Right time to get the heating and the kettle on
Have a good evening chums whatever you are doing

    Cheers

TA, mabe an echo dot would help. You can ask it to play soothing music, or the sound of rain or similar type gubbins. If you have an amazon account and already have some audio books, it can play them too. Worth a thought..
One of the reasons I'm getting one is the OH likes washing up IF he can listen to music...so....:)
