PEA Parking Charge

This is my first post. Had appointment at Craigavon Area Hospital (NI)- couldn't find parking spot (limited parking) and was late for appointment. Noted that about 10 cars had parked on footpath, which had double red lines around it. Returned about 25 mins later and all cars had yellow PCN attached to windscreens. I have sought advice from advice centres here and advise to pay to avoid all the threatening letters and hassle which will follow non-payment. I accept that parking had been a nightmare at this hospital in the past with cars parked everywhere and blocking access for ambulances etc. Have been reading some of the past advice on this subject but would appreciate up-to-date advice and especially from anyone who has not paid and what the consequences have been.

As you are in NI, the advice is the same as Scotland - ignore it. Unless it's a lease hire, or company car where they will write to the registered keeper (if that is not you).

This is in the NEWBIES thread and on any thread you care to search - but search for Scotland, which is a better search term than NI. The advice is the same.

They cannot hold the registered keeper liable.

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • I have seen this advice before- are you saying that private land owners have no rights to restrict parking on their land? BTW excuse my ignorance but what/where is "Newbies Thread"?

No, that is not what was said, and I cannot understand how you arrived at that.

    Did you see the sentence:

...which means that if they do not know the identity of the driver they have no-one to chase.

If you were to go back to the page where you found the New Thread button earlier, you will find the thread entitled **NEWBIES!! PRIVATE PARKING TICKET? OLD OR NEW? **READ THESE FAQS FIRST!** Thankyou! easily.

What you are calling a footnote is my 'signature' and is not a link.

We can't put links in sigs; this forum doesn't allow it. Wish I could.

Read my sig again, it signposts you to where the actual link is, and what it looks like.

It's a breadcrumb trail at the top of every page....look to the top for the little words in my sig, that's why they look like they do, I replicate the link for you.
