Well done dumpling. That is an amazing loss.
Very cold here too. Working till 6, my OH is off today so he’s cooking a lovely mixed grill for tea, I can’t wait lol
Hope everyone is ok0 -
Good afternoon chums blooming nippy here in Kent although at least its dry.Nelski hope you arrived safe and sound, and sadly no 2.00 a,m. bottle of red, with laughs in Blackpool, after our MSE meet last time
:):)
Dumpling I feel for you as I have lymphedema in my right arm after mastectomy plus lymph node removal. Blooming nuisance it is as well, as I find it very hard to find clothes or a coat to fit as my right arm is three times the size of my left one I have had umpteen treatments and wraps and sleeves but it makes virtually no difference, I just have to live with it, but still, I can live with a large arm ,but can't live with cancer.
Goodness know what I will do when my existing winter coat falls apart its on its third year .I have to wear either tee shirts with an oversized cardi or jumper as it is and my clothes are always several sizes bigger than I need .But there are worse off than me so I just crack on
Tomorrow morning I will be taking Jack back to Uni as his term restarts on Monday, so after I pick him up from work at five tonight we are coming back via Aldi's to get him restocked with stuff for the next 10 weeks. Its his 19th birthday next month so we will be going up to see him and taking supplies with us to get him through term.
Bless him he has worked so hard doing extra shifts at the coffee place during the holidays He has only had 4 days off shift since mid December, and hopefully it will help feed him during the next couple of months .His maintenance grant is just under £200 short of his Halls rent so he has been grafting as much as he can during the holidays
I send him £50.00 per month to help out and sometimes his other Grandma, if she remembers, sends him a bit of cash as well
But she is not a very close Granny, and although rolling in dosh just hasn't got a clue how broke he gets sometimes
His parents have another two lads still at school so money can be a bit tight at times But we managed to get his big brother Ben through Uni so we will get him through as well.
Luckily he has a smashing boss in the coffee shop who knows how he needs extra shifts when he is home, and although sometimes he gets the rotten ones that no one else is keen on, Jack will always work if there is anything going.
History was nice this afternoon and weirdly it was all about the Palace of Westminster (the Brexit word is banned though
:))and we had a really good couple of hours learning about it.
Right my youngest DGS Mikey has just come in from school and is making me a cuppa, good lad that he is so I shall dig out some cookies that I made this morning for us
Have a good evening chums and keep warm and dry

If a hospital clinic visit can ever be described as fabulous it was the one DM had today! Once I got her up to the right place she was whisked away for an ECG immediately and then into the docs. We spent an hour with him, he was patient and very understanding. Apart from ordering a CT and lung function test he's prescribed anti -anxiety medication for her which may also increase her appetite. He explained that weight loss is 'normal' for ageing too so that immediately lifts the big black cloud from my shoulders.
The nurses were also extremely kind and helpful, what a difference a few years makes. Lots of dragons and old style docs are gone and the new generation have had such better training in the soft skills.
DM's anti-anxiety meds will hopefully have an impact for me too as that's the one aspect of her ails which I struggle with.
We visited the optician on the (long) way home so, two birds - one stone. :j
Dumpling - what a tremendous achievement, water or no water. It must be a huge boost for you.
Have to go and eat something, not eaten since last night.0 -
Afternoon folks and a wave to NANCY x
I was daft enough to think it felt milder this morning. It was short lived! By lunchtime it felt decidedly chilly again and this afternoon we have been bombarded by a few snow showers. Fortunately it hasn't settled.
My cleaning ground to an emergency stop when my dodgy hip started playing up, with the associated shooting pains. I took painkillers and got settled on the recliner but it's not easing very fast.
CRANKY thanks for the tips but sadly I am not the person I was before insomnia took over. That person could sit engrossed in a book for hours. The person I am now just can't concentrate on reading and I find myself going over the same page again and again with my mind away elsewhere. I do have a book beside the bed, along with the relaxation cds and the thingy puffing lavender out, but nothing helps. I do however rather like the idea of having a midnight feast beside the bed!!
I had a stupid phone call earlier. I limped to the phone to be met with silence and then an American voice said "You have been kicked out of the conference" then the line went dead. What was that all about then?!
That sounded an excellent appointment GERS. I hope the anti-anxiety meds help.
Have a nice evening folks xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good evening everyone :hello:
Just popping back on to say that I had my first fruit and salad delivery this morning and it was really good value for money. I had loads of lovely fresh fruit including apples, pears, strawberries, kiwis, bananas and more and lots of salad stuff too and it cost me £10. He also does fruit and veg boxes so I will have one of those next time to see what they are like. It was so nice making my lunch today with lovely ingredients knowing I was supporting a small local business too.
Steve has offered to make dinner so I am sat on my backside while he is slaving away in the kitchen chopping up peppers and onions for the curry. I think I will keep him :lovethoug.
Gers, great news about your mums appointment. I hope the anti-anxiety meds kick in quickly for her x
TA, sorry your hip is playing you up. Hope your painkillers work quickly too x
JackieO, yes lymphoedema is certainly a pain whichever limb is affected. I mostly wear nightdresses as even the feel of a pair of a trousers touching my legs are too painful. I am really optomistic though that reducing my weight will help a bit, even if it is just to get me more mobile x
beenthere, your cross stitch project looks like it is going to be lovely. I am so over Christmas though at the moment so I will be looking to make a Valentine's card for Steve and then a nice spring picture. I love reading the magazines you can get with the free kits. I have saved up the last few to open so I will be looking at them tomorrow when I am resting x
Right, I am off to potter around the web before dinner is ready. Hope you all have a lovely evening, take care xx0 -
Evening all
RANT ALERT !!
Well we're back from the hospital and to say that DD is not a happy bunny would be and understatement as they have LOST her records from after DGD was born up until 2013 . They apparently do not even have the record of her 2 1/2 hrs surgery after DGD's birth, (which was traumatic enough  ) nor any of her scans, physio, camera results etc. since then. Talk about incompetence, now poor DD has to go through it all again before they can go forward . The consultant ( a lady ) was fab and informative but her hands are tied until she gets the correct information
And breathe....
Mehefin there is snow on the Blorenge mountain and we have had sleet/snow all afternoon. Hope you, MrsM and the animal family are keeping warm and safe too.
TA sorry your hip is playing up, I hope I didn't pass mine on to you ( although mine is still not giving up without a fight either
.) Gentle hugs and healing vibes coming your way.
Hello Nancy and welcome
Gers glad your Mum had a good clinic visit.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Quick post as am on bed, I know it is early but I'm tired and feeling pretty cr*p with aches, TA I sympathise. I wanted to tell you that after a bereavement I found it really hard to settle to anything much I usually read an awful lot but it just seemed to be words on a page, totally meaningless. Gradually, I regained my live of books but it took a while and surprised me as reading has always been my main pastime. I hope you too will find that this passes.
Dumpling I meant to congratulate you on your weight loss, this morning and even if,some of it was water weight, I should think some of it was more desirable weight loss.
OL how frustrating, hope Monday works out.
We have snow but wet and so far, not stocking.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Just about to hit the hay myself. Its Saturday tomorrow, so will not be racing to get up.
We were held up a bit on the way back from my friends, a gritter lorry on fire on the opposite carriage way, people gawping caused a slow tail back. We made it home just before darkness descended!!
Night!!0
