This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning
Very cold here today just popped my head out and the car is rock solid with ice and I think I need another jumper or two.
Off to Blackpool today for a training day. Doubt there will be much strolling down the prom for me though. Should be a fun day as its in an amusement arcade ...might have to have a go at the 2p tipping point machine
I do love the range of venues I get in this job ..variety is the spice of life eh
Need to leave daft early as I want to nip to the 24hr Tesco to pick up some biscuits and treats for the group always helps with rapport :cool:Also will need some de icer by the look of it for the week. its days like this that make me remember Dads mantra that garages were meant for cars not junk....yeah right I would struggle to get a matchbox car in mine
would be nice though
Food wise the company will provide some lunch and i may pick up a sandwich to eat in the car park for brekky
Working tonight as well so its a busy one today and i will need to shove something down my neck for tea at some point.
Hope everyone manages to keep warm and cosy today :A

Morning NELSKI and all to follow. I knew it was too much to expect another decent night's sleep. Back to tossin 'n turnin and clockwatching all night. Bah!
Another cold one in store and no sun forecast for today. Yesterday was glorious with blue sky and sunshine all day long. But it didn't feel any warmer for it sadly! Heating blasting away all day.
Shopping done yesterday and stuck to my list of f & v, dairy and fridge stuff only. Nothing bought for the freezer till stocks go down a bit. Celery soup out and defrosting for lunch today with a ys seeded roll to make a sarnie. Chicken portion out for tonight. What it will manifest itself into yet to be decided!
As it's Friday it's that day again so the Friday Tidy awaits. I hate Fridays! I should really strip the bed too.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Gentle hug for Zeus who hasn't had a very good week. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
I had a slightly better night last night so I feel wide awake for a change
. Had my weigh in this morning and I lost 19 lb this week (not a typo). It just goes to show how much water weight was in me. I fully expect to have a more normal loss next week as the water tablets have done their job and now I am needing the bathroom a lot less TMI I know
.
I have been advised to have periods of bed rest because of my lymphoedema in my legs so I am looking forward to officially being a lady of leisure, at least for a couple of hours in the afternoon. My legs are very stiff and painful still so I am hopeful this will help a bit. I have asked Phoebe to set up an echo dot in the bedroom so I can listen to music. I also have my cross stitch stuff up there so I can at least plan my next few projects.
I have a fairly busy morning here with my lovely sister coming to visit at 9, a fruit and veg delivery sometime this morning, a musclefood delivery and an Asda delivery. This should keep me out of mischief for a while
.
Lilly has the second half of her root canal this morning so I shall make sure she is up and ready in a little while. She doesn't want to go as her tooth has settled down now after all the pain she was in but it is best to get the job finished as she only has a temporary filling in. Thank goodness she still gets free treatment while she is in college.
Dinner tonight will be chicken and vegetable curry with cauli rice for me and brown rice for everyone else. They are all being quite accepting of the changes in diet apart from Phoebe who asked for white bread as brown bread 'makes her sad' . She will eat brown rice and pasta so I am happy to accomodate her wish. My shopping bill has halved even including the fruit and veg delivery. It's quite amazing.
Sending out hugs and cwtches to all the poorly and fed up, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning all
Brrr very cold and frosty here will see what the weather is like later on, I am interested to see if its as cold as they say.
Work today but its Friyay :j and only three clients in today, the violent one has been suspended again and I think it will be a while before he comes back.
Quiche for dinner tonight (we got fish and chips last night) so will do some garlicky new pots with it and some peas.
Cleaner coming today so it will all be tidy tonight will just have some washing to do.
Candy I hope Zeus is ok xxx
Have good days all xx0 -
Good morning folks.
It's chilly here too and I'm still under my duvet. Yesterday was very busy non-stop, interviewing three candidates and one was withdrawn. Driving back from Oban down to Glasgow was really difficult as I came down a different way and ended up along the way. Just to make things a tad more difficult, from Tarbet all the way to Balloch I was in a long line of traffic behind a gritter van. When I thought it was turning off on the roundabout it just went round the roundabout and back onto the main road. :rotfl: the only consolation is that I probably used up half the fuel than normal.
Today I'm taking mum to the hospital for another checkup to find out why she stopped eating. Yesterday the GP phoned me before she went off on holiday just to check that all the mates are up-to-date and that mum is okay. I feel very lucky that she has such a caring GP.
Last night mum and I had a conversation with me speaking into her iPad so that she could read what I said. Her hearing has so deteriorated that she increasingly finds it difficult to understand most people. She was delighted to find this facility on the iPad and I think she will use it with everybody else. It's good to find some use for modern technology which will enable her to feel a little bit more confident. I'm dictating this just too!
Another half hour in my cosy bed Will do me before I have to get up. I wish everybody a very happy Friday.0 -
Good morning all,
I forgot to set the alarm last night but luckily I'm preprogrammed to wake up at the right time (even at weekends). I'm having an indoor day again today. The really cold air doesn't agree with my breathing when I'm a bit off colour so best to stay in the warm. I'll tidy up this morning, liberate something from the freezer for tea then knit this afternoon. I'm making my bestie another hat. He wants a spare as I have made him a better hat than the ones he saw but rejected as unsuitable in the shops.
Dumpling Well done! Even though the water tablets have helped, you have done your bit by healthy eating. That's nearly 2 stone in 2 weeks, yay. Hopefully you will start to feel the benefit soon.
TA maybe you need a change of plan for now. I'd have a "bed time book" waiting so that when you wake up in the night you have something to read. Have a small snack and a drink of squash or water waiting too. Have the snack, read for an hour or two then turn the light off and try again, It's better than clock watching and waiting for sleep that doesn't come. On the says that you are home in the afternoons, schedule a nana nap that will keep you caught up and stick to it. I find if I've had a wakeful night I can nap from 1pm to 2pm without it disturbing the next night's sleep. Hopefully if you're more relaxed about your sleep schedule it will correct itself eventually.
Gers thinking of you and Mum of Gers today. I hope the appointment is productive.
Nels drive safely. It's not frosty here although it felt cold enough when I got out of bed.
OL fingers crossed for prodigal's flat. My bestie has a nephew like prodigal who has settled down so much better with the right living arrangements.
Take care all of you

morning,((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Up waiting for the workmen to come and change the double glazing pane in the front window. They said 8am so I hope they make it, we are off out later today.
Very heavy frost, car is all white, no snow though. We did have a slight fall yesterday, but it soon went in the sun.
Off to my friends this morning, she has had me searching through patterns for knitted dolly's she has a problem, her I pad will not talk to her printer, so she sends me the details and I print it off for her. Thats fine if I can find the pattern in the first place!!
OH is still sleeping the sleep of the just, will wake him shortly......
Steroid injection went ok, it has reduced the pain considerably, I am still wearing the splint and using the cream though. I have medication for my osteoporosis, it is bad in my spine, but the hips are just ok at the moment. I also have medication for the UTI, so along with what I normally take I must rattle if shaken.:rotfl::rotfl:
Hmmm big black van drawn up outside, guess thats the chaps to do the window, so will sign off now.0 -
Morning all! Hopsital in a bit for the pre op, and a visit to a friend who is in there somewhere. I made cheese and walnut scones yesterday and very light they were too, going to have two for breakfast instead of toast, and take a couple in for afomentioned friend...
Yesterday was fairly productive, made scones, made food, paid bills, sorted out finances and worked out how long I've got left, went to docs, picked up drugs, ordered more drugs and put some christmas stuff away.
I may venture into front gardenland today and clear it a bit after the hospital if it isn't raining when I get back.
Well done dumpling that's amazing! Nelski I used to eat one of my sandwiches in work by nine o clock for breakfast, and then eat fruit all day because I was hungry, can never eat first thing in the morning though...I need time to [ as my mother used to put it] come around. TA, crankys got a good idea there, no point berating yourself for not sleeping, sit up and do something with it
Gers, can your mum not use hearing aids? My auntie got some new fangled tiny ones but I don't think she liked what she was hearing so she got rid of them, think they worked too well
csarina, get wll soon, enjoy your new window..Hope everyone else is fab today, wotcha Poppy, Holly.
Happy frosty sparkly brrr machine of Friday...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Morning Friday people!
Amazing afternoon in Anglesey yesterday, walked over 14,000 steps and some of those were up steep hills - the old muscles are feeling it a bit this morning. Inspired to do a bit more exercise and keep feeling healthy and well.
Off to take the dog and cat for the annual vaccs at the vet today, no doubt there'll be a bit of whinging in the car all the way there and back!
It's all gone a bit cold but I noticed it was getting lighter earlier this morning so we're heading in the right direction.
