I'd wonder how they got your name at all ... if you're the registered keeper (i.e. the V5C is in your name/address) then they (possibly) got your details from the DVLA. My question would be - what reason could they have to request keeper details from the DVLA? If there was no justifiable reason then both DVLA and S&G may have committed a DPA/GDPR breach.0

Presumably to see if you're able to afford your share of their costs if they lose the case.Livingmybestlife wrote: »Sorry to hijack this thread but I was checking my credit file yesterday and realised that Slater and Gordon have done a credit check on my file. Any ideas why they would have done this and if this will be regardedas a hard or soft search? I/we are part of the claimants in the case but I am only the owner/driver of the vehichle whilst my husband is named on the finance and all paperwork.0 -
But why would they check on the poster when it is her husband who is listed on the claim?Aylesbury_Duck wrote: »Presumably to see if you're able to afford your share of their costs if they lose the case.0 -

Just to clarify, I said I/we because we are both aware of the case and in the event of a possible payout, what's his is mine

DoaM, you are correct, im only the keeper of the car and nothing more. My husband has been the one submitting documents etc as mentioned by the OP so they have none of my passports details etc, just my husbands.0 -
Check what your husband signed. Did it say you needed to be the registered keeper? If so they will have gone to the DVLA to find who that is.0

Hmm, I will have to check with him this evening. If it did say the registered keeper then I would have had to supply my docs and signature but im sure it was his (I will double check this though as I haven't really been involved). I have no problems if he submitted it on my behalf but a signature he would have asked me to do.
If it didn't say registeed keeper then I'm concened that they are peforming searches on my credit file without my permission negatively impacting it.0
