Hi
Please help I am not good at this kind of thing but thibk it's so unfair.
In short I paid for 5 hours of parking to take my children to a drama show that they was in we returned 5 minutes late! Due to the show over running I explained this in my appeal and it has been declined.
I have read that they have to give you a 10 minute Grace period is this correct?
I have been given the choice to appeal through popla would this benefit me?
Any help etc would be appreciated thanks

yes you have 2 periods of say 10 minutes grace period, one before parking , one after in order to leave , this is in the BPA CoP, so download it and read it
see post #3 of the NEWBIES thread and draft a popla appeal, including clause #13 of the BPA CoP, (grace periods)
that thread (that you should have read) is the third thread down from the top of this forum0 -
Yes, you should appeal through PoPLA.
Post #3 of the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread will guide you through that.0 -
Sorry I got lost in the threads of what where and why I will have a look now thank you0

It is the will of Parliament that these scammers, (very often former clampers), be put out of business.
Hopefully that will take place in the near future. The Bill has passed through the HOC without hitch, and goes to the Lords soon. In the meantime involve your MP, the poor dears are buckling under the weight of complaints about these scammers.
This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of alleged contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors. Is has been suggested by an MP that some of these companies may have connections to organised crime.
Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, (especially Smart}, and others have already been named and shamed in the House of Commons as have Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each week), hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned. They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct
The problem has become so widespread that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers.
Sir Greg Knight's Private Members Bill to curb the excesses, and perhaps close down, some of these companies passed its Third Reading in late November, and, with a fair wind, will become Law next year.
All three readings are available to watch on the internet, (some 6-7 hours), and published in Hansard. MPs have an extremely low opinion of the industry. Many are complaining that they are becoming overwhelmed by complaints from members of the public. Add to their burden, complain in the most robust terms about the scammers. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -

Sorry to disagree, Redx. A recent thread on here clarified the BPA position on Grace periods.
see here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/75318400#Comment_75318400 post #27
The letter from the BPA reads
"13.4 You should allow the driver a reasonable period to leave the private car park after the parking contract has ended, before you take enforcement action. If the location is one where parking is normally permitted, the Grace Period at the end of the parking period should be a minimum of 10 minutes.”
This period covers paying at the start of the parking contract and leaving at the end. It is not necessarily a full 10 minutes at the end of the period of parking and it is not in addition to the entry grace period because the entry grace period is only applicable if the motorist does not stay".0
