They changed the design of the Platinum cards - old was white and new is black/grey. I read in an email they would send the new design out to current Platinum card holders.

What email was this? I didn't get one and, as others have said, they don't send out new cards just because they've changed the design. That would be a complete waste of money.
  • My new card has arrived 10 months early with a booklet of benefits that come with the card. Missing is not paying commission on purchases abroad which I had when abroad in September last year. I've phoned their helpline number but all the chap there could do was to tell me what benefits I had, not if I'd lost any. Anybody else found the same thing or have I missed something?

Unfortunately, the card replacement seems to have messed up my cashback.

The Barclaycard mobile app shows my current cashback as £0, and the rate is shown as "(null)%"

The Barclaycard web site shows current cashback as £0, and when I click "find out more" the site crashes with a System Error and throws me out.

Fortunately, the PDF statement for January shows the amount of cashback I had accrued up to that date, so I have a record of it, but I'm hoping it's just a temporary display issue and will sort itself out in a few days.

Interesting thread. Barclays Bank recently sent me a new Visa Debit Card almost a year before expiry of the previous one. I didn't query it, destroyed the old one and am now using the new one with no problems. Perhaps sent for the same reasons as suggested here.

Remembered that it was a message displayed on online banking, as opposed to being an email.

Is your mobile number up to date with Barclays?

This sounds like a replacement as a precaution, for example if you have used your card before at a company where their security has been compromised, they may take the decision to replace the cards for customers who's card information may be at risk. And normally send you a text to inform you.

Yes, I get text messages from them after setting up a new online payee etc. I did get a letter saying a new card was on the way but no indication as to the reason.

For the benefit of anyone else reading this thread at a later date with a similar problem, the cashback display fault resolved after the next statement date. Cashback was accruing normally on all transactions, I just couldn't see it for a while.

    All back to normal now.
