  • Nelski, you bad woman! I like it.

Roads here are icy and very slippy. I'm so glad that I don't have to go anywhere today. I've put the central heating on though at a very low level, if I get too cold will just have to bounce about a bit, easy as am still spherical from Christmas.

Dumpling I used to have a veg box, it was from a very small organic company and I had everyone's boxes in our area, for collection. Unfortunately they went bust and I'd just opted to pay monthly a few days before they went belly up, so a bit annoying as customers are not classed as priority in these circumstances and obviously they would have known. However in the years that I had the boxes (you could specify if there was a vegetable you didn't want) the stuff was great quality and very fresh.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Morning all:D
It's bright n sunny here today. Thanks for all your lovely wishes for Zeus. He's doing really well, n is going for a check up at the vets today. Still haven't got his blood results back, so they won't be getting paid yet .The insurance are refusing to pay out, as they're saying the bleeding was castration related, whereas it's likely he might be haemophiliac, so it could've happened at any time .Lots of discussions ahead I think :mad:The main thing is He's recovering though :D
In other news my new phone has arrived, n i've not got a clue what i'm doing with it :rotfl:
The house is an absolute pigsty, due to me playing nursemaid all week, but you know what, I don't care :D
Huggles to all the poorlies n peed offs today xx :A

Thanks for all the information on veg boxes. I had a look on our local Facebook selling page and there are a few different options out there. I think I will definitely give them a go especially as I am eating a lot more fruit and veg now.

    Morning all,

Lovely crisp day here,we had to take DGS to school so we got a lovely view of the hills in the sunshine.Cold in here though,I'm going to light the log burner soon.
Popped in town yesterday and picked up some reduced meat items in Marks so I'm making beef stroganoff for tea tonight,I've got a big pack of mushrooms that needs using.
DH still coughing his head off so he's not going to quiz night at the pub tonight.I've got some elderberry syrup coming today so we'll see if that helps,it was reduced from £10 to £5 so worth a try, especially when I read an article saying scientists have proved it really helps with flu and similar ailments -mind you I'm kicking myself for not making my own, there's a tree across the road !
I have to wait in for a new mattress DS2 has ordered for DGS bed,his old one is awful, you can feel some of the springs sticking through
Candygirl so glad to hear Zeus is doing better.
Reading all your comments about veg box deliveries with interest,I have looked into it before & used to have one years ago but that one was a bit limited. From Monday I am trying out a milk delivery in glass bottles :T, the nearest farm to us is starting it.They have a kiddies visitor centre which our 2 DGC are very familiar with. Before we moved here we always had a milkman so I hope it works out ok,just hope Ly1a doesnt bark the house down if they make a noise and theyre early, she's so quick to notice unexpected noises especially if no one is up .
Sending everyone my warmest wishes xx

    Afternoon all,
Sorry for my late post but I promised myself I wouldn't come on here until I'd done my chores :D
Mr Fix It said it was snowing very lightly when he went out early this morning for his daily constitutional .However the sun has been shining all day and I have had all the upstairs windows open, but I have put the heating on now as the sun has gone down behind the tree line and it's blummin cold !
This morning we had a trip to Al*is to do a shop as Mr Fix It needed some workshop organisers and luckily he picked up the last 2. The shop was really busy and I do try not to go on Thursdays, but all the tills were open for once, so not too bad. Seemed to take me longer to put the shopping away than actually doing it though as I had to play freezer tetris to get it all in ! Well I'm ready now for any snowy weather :snow_laug

This afternoon I have dusted and hoovered through downstairs, then the hall and up the stairs. I had to empty and clean the filter in the hoover before I started as it was choc-a-bloc  . Why don't men think of doing that when they use it, or is it just mine ? I also cleaned two glass panelled interior doors, inside and out, filled the DW and cleaned down the kitchen tops.
So that's it for today cleaning wise and later I shall treat myself to a relaxing bubble bath as I can now get in and out of the bath unaided. I did think we might have to call the fire brigade at one point last week when my hip was really bad ( I thought a warm bath would help ;) ) ..... sorry JackieO I know they are your domain, but needs must :rotfl:
Tea tonight will be bacon and egg etc.
Hope everyone has had a good Thursday.
Hugs to all, take care and keep warm.
    nan xx

    Warning rant alert:
As some of you know, Zeus was castrated on Monday, n didn't stop bleeding, so had to stay in the vets overnight, while they sedated him, n tried , then successfully attempted to stop the bleeding.
Throughout this time the Senior vet kept me updated with his progress. On Tues morn she rang n said they were taking bloods to send off, to see why his blood wasn't clotting, n another vet would ring me later that day, but she warned me that she didn't speak good English!!!
Anyway the 2nd junior vet rang me, n neither of us could really understand the other, but I caught that I could collect Zeus at 430, which I did.
He's been home since then, n is doing really well, n today was his 1st post op check.I went in n asked what the blood tests had revealed, n the Greek vet said i'd said I didn't want
blood tests!!I was fuming n asked how could that be the issue , when I need to know what's wrong with him.
To cut a long story short, she took two massive vials of. blood, out of his little leg today, n he was howling in pain. This should've been done while he was sedated on Mon/Tues.
I'm really concerned about going back for the results, n not being able to understand her.
    WWYD? 😣😣😣

Candy I'd complain in writing. Three issues - you were told that they would do something that they then didn't do and secondly they're saying that you told them not to do the blood tests when you clearly didn't then thirdly they have hurt your dog when they could have done the test without causing pain - something that they said they had already done.

I'd leave the communication problems out of it by now but ask that only the senior vet contacts you by phone if anyone wishes to discus the problem.

I'd also change vets. The vet that saw Sarah Puddycat when she collapsed and had to be PTS before Christmas was lovely. He was even wiping Sarah's face so she was comfortable as he was sedating her before her final injection. Sarah and her welfare was as much his priority as it was mine. That doesn't seem to be the case with your vet and Zeus.....

    Candygirl,

Aw poor Zeus, hope he's got over it now.Something like that could put him off going to the vets for life  especially when it would have been easier to do it while he was out of it.
Could you speak to the practice manager, or the Senior vet about the results? They need to know if the junior vets English is causing a problem before something even worse happens
At our vets you can specify who you want to see ( as long as its not an emergency of course ),we ask for the same one as Ly1a is more comfortable with him- still doesnt stop her weeing over his exam room floor though as she's so nervous.

I've rung n requested a call back from the Senior vet, who is usually very good x

  • Candygirl I'm sorry to hear about Zeus and the blood tests, poor little dog having pain on top of his other woes, I would be writing to the practice as Zeus can't stick up for himself.
