    Hi

It is via a cable that I guess you need to buy, but it clips into where the headset goes, if that helps.

The link takes you to the Nokia demo for the phone, they have some pretty good demos for the phones!!! I like them anyway ;)

You may want to consider getting a USB bluetooth dongle that plugs directly into your computer and you can transfer pics, r'tones, etc via bluetooth to your phone.

This way means you have more freedom. A USB cable lead are generally less than 1m and therefore your phone would have to be right next to your computer but with a bluetooth dongle you can do exactly the same things except your phone can be upto 10metres away instead of stuck to the end of a cable.

I also have the 6230i and bought a (upto) 100metres USB bluetooth dongle for about £15 and you can still use Nokia's PC Suite.

For more info on a bluetooth dongle see this small thread.

But how do you send stuff from your computer to your phone if you are 100 metres away from your computer? or use Nokia's PC suite if you are not sitting at your computer with your phone nearby so you can transfer the data from computer to phone:confused::confused::confused:

I meant the phone could be upto 100metres away. I am sitting at my computer when it occurs. It just saves having to have the phone right next to me at the time.

Nokia PC Suite has a menu for connecting your phone via USB cable, infrared or bluetooth. I just load up Nokia PC Suite and have it search (via bluetooth) for my phone. Then I can transfer anything from my computer to my phone (or vice versa) providing i'm within the range specified (upto 100metres).

Most bluetooth dongles only have a range of 10 or 20metres but mine is 100metres.

Note - the range specified by any bluetooth device (whether 10, 20, or 100metres) is only upto its specified range and is subject to environment conditions.

Eg. My computer is in a spare bedroom and my phone is in the livingroom which is only about 20metres away but with 2 solid brick walls between and I can send pics, tones, or videos from my computer to my phone which is in the livingroom.
  • Thanks but why would you leave your phone in the living room if you are in the spare bedroom,if someone rings you up you have to get up and go to the living room to answer the phone.I can see the point in having bluetooth instead of cable as my mouse and keyboard are both bluetooth but was just puzzled why it's better to have the 100 metre range dongle instead of the 10-20 metre one when i would have my phone close by if i was transferring data between the two.

I got the 100metre version as it was the same price as a lot of other manufacturers 10/20metre versions. Had the 100metre version been a lot more expensive then I'd just got the standard 10/20metre version instead.

PS: The phone is in livingroom because it is generally the centre of the house (just have the one floor) so if it rings then chances are I can hear it whereever I may be otherwise I just have to remember to take it with me. Its really just personal choice I suppose.
  • How much was it please and where did you get it from :)

thanks for the answer so far,

but i was wondering if it had a usb cable which linked the 6230i to the pc (like the ngage) then it would be so much faster and it would come up onto my computer screen as a seperate drive.

plus on my phone in the connectivity part there is a blanked out option 4 which is 'usb data cable' anybody have any ideas what that is?

and i have tried the bluetooth dongle but that is too slow.

    thanks everyone

From i2020 for about £15. Remember though the dongle's are only upto either 10/20/100metres. I think the reason why it can't go as far as the 100metres are the two walls between my computer and where the phone is generally kept. One word of caution though and that is that the driver that comes with it is not compatible with Nokia PC suite. Having rung around I was informed that I should have just put the dongle in the computer and have WinXP Pro SP2 detect the dongle and install its own drivers. Having done this, Nokia PC suite works brilliant with it with no probs. I'm not entirely certain if it will work on those machines just running SP1 or not!
