How strict are RyanAir with cabin luggage sizes?

Options
Travelling with them (or any Budget Airline) for the first time so no idea how strict they are with their sizing.

The size stated in the T&Cs is "55cm x 40cm x 20cm"

However we have 4 cabin sized cases, and their sizes are:-

1) 57 x 36 x 22cm

2) 56 x 37 x 20cm

Will being 1 or 2 cm out be unacceptable to them? Weight is not an issue, we are way under the 10kg limit.

Thanks

It al depends if they are strict and ask you to put the cases into the sizing cage, it will stick out at the top by 2 cm. From your quoted dimensions personally I think you will be ok but rules are rules I suppose.

You say 4 cases, is that one each?

The last few times I have flown with Ryanair they haven't checked the size or weight.

Yea as above, if they use the sizing cage then it won't fit.
I have had them use it on me most times I flew with them, although haven't flown with them for a year or so now.

That's the problem with not complying with airline rules.

You might get away with it.
    You might not.

Even if 999 people say their (admittedly only just too big) bags were not checked, it doesn't follow that you'll be treated the same.

Just be prepared to pay if they decide they want to check if your luggage meets their rules.

I've flown with Ryanair in the past. Can't comment on the size, but they were VERY strict on weight. I had been careful with my case and weighed it to check etc before we got to the airport, but some friends hadn't thinking that they would get away with it. They didn't. One of them was only 0.1kg over and they told him he had to either remove something, or pay an excess charge.

So, based on that experience, I wouldn't chance it. BUT, mine is an isolated experience, over ten years ago and with these things it always just comes down to the person on the day!

Depends on the airport ,Some bother some don`t
I have even had a small backpack weighed by check in staff at DSA a few years ago

Never had one checked at PMI but always at BCN

So best to toss a coin
    Have a nice day :)

I've flown with Ryanair 3 times and each time my hand luggage has never been weighed/measured. Only my hold luggage has been weighed.

Always best to be cautious though as it'll be the one time you don't stick to the rules you'll get checked.

I think a lot depends on whether or not it's a full flight, if it is they'll be more strict.
