I posted this a while back-if you are struggling to decide who to switch to, or you are considering leaving Southern because of the small increase (which compared to most suppliers still make Southern cheaper in most cases)-then look at the customer satisfaction and the attitudes of the staff who work there-IN THE UK WHERE WE LIVE funilly enough!!!
Can I just say that it makes a refreshing change for a utility company to actually look after their customers and provide energy and take the direct debits from a customers account when they promise to, on time and the amount you expect.
Their customer service is absolutely impeccable and they always help me with any problems that I have. I had an absolutely horrendous and distressing time with British Gas before I went with Southern and when I was switching to them, they did eveything for me in the space of a few weeks and i've been with them for a year
When I moved house they did not supply my new property and I was in credit on both my gas and electric. Obviously with moving house it was expensive and I recieved a refund over £140 into my bank account withing 2 weeks of leaving my old house-straight into my bank and not by a stupid cheque! And I was still staying with them in my new home, I just had to wait for the supply to be pulled over from British Gas as unfortunatley they supplied my new home and I had to get authority to leave. But Southern were professional, helpful and treated me tremedously. Their call centres are all in the UK and the advisers I speak to, they are always positive, friendly and they go out of their way to help me.
I cannot sing their praises enough and I would recommend them to anyone highly. They are very affordable and in comparison to British Gas, they reduced my bills by a whopping 50% which I thought was absolutely fantastic.
So if you want a professional, no hassle, no queue on the phone and cost effective service, then I recommend Southern Electric and Gas, If you type Scottish and Southern Energy in Google, they come up. Give them a try-you won't be disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No authority needed on your switch. They just have the opportunity to object if you hold a debt. Other than that it's mostly your new Supplier that deals with everyone.
Stick with them if they are working for you.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Hooray! I work for SSE and everyone works very hard to give a good service so thanks for your post.

I don't know about that one Cagey, the call centres in this country are in general pretty poor in this sector. Npower's ones are and look at all the threads about them!!!:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0

Nice one!
Although, after having experienced British Gas, I suppose even getting your gas supplied by a smelly old tramp who comes round once a week & pokes a hose pipe through your letterbox would be preferable in many ways...SKIPS STONES FOR FUDGE0
