well it always make a better job if you get the switches and sockets removed before the plasterer starts.
don't trust plasterers to do this, some will and some won't. it's not really their job, they should tell customers though.
obviously in your case they haven't taken them off and have just skimmed them in!

He says he did take them off. Some of the ones downstairs are not too bad but these ones! Will take more pics later of "edges" corners ceilings and skirting boards

That's shocking quality. I'm only a diy'er but if I'd left trowel marks and lumps like that when I skim a wall, I'd be ashamed of myself. Judging by the trowel marks and the bumps leading up to the switches, they weren't removed before skimming. The plasterer should have informed you the switches needed to come off before he started so either you or your electrician could do it. Get a bag of easifill and some sandpaper to sort out the mess he's left.

I rarely let trades into my house apart from work that needs to be signed off (gas work, minimal electrics). I'll do most work myself as I've got better control over the quality. It's a struggle to find tradesmen who take pride in their work any more. Prices seem to have been driven so low that they have to work as fast as they can to move on to the next job

well he's lying, the single socket hasn't been removed. and how did the plaster around the light switch get damaged so much if it wasn't stuck to the switch??
theres one that looks like it was loosened off, but it's still not easy to get a flat smooth finish all the way round the switch when it's still there, albeit loosened off and pulled forward.

We've contacted him but he's asked why we didn't contact him before. I said due to leaving walls to dry out and covid 19. He's deleted his works Facebook business page and I can't find him anywhere now
