How to fix a bad plastering job

Hi
I had a builder re do a bedroom room in terms of re-plaster, new joinery and decorate. The walls were taken back to brick, new boards fitted and then plastered. The plastering was done and skirts have gone on, but the plastering was awful and I mean awful!! I had 2 other plasterers come in and they said it was pretty shocking. Even the electrician commented on it.
I’ve not paid thankfully
What would be ideal way to fix this? Would you ask new plasterer to remove all boards and go back to brick and fit new boards?
I’m also hacked off as all the skirts have gone on so will have rip all that off and start again.
Any advice?

Use a drywall sander then skim with joint compound where you can and sand again.0

Give the plasterer a chance to redo properly.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

You may need to let the builder rectify his work if he wants to unless you are going to come to a deal with him and pay only part of his quote
If the board work is OK just get the walls skimmed again0 -
I would rather not as the trust has gone !!!
You have no choice. If you won't give him the chance to correct it then you are legally compelled to pay him in full.{Signature removed by Forum Team - if you are not sure why we have removed your signature please contact the Forum Team}0 -

If you were going back to the brick why not get a proper plasterer and get the job done right?
The time to run away was when bopards were mentioned. undercoat and skim. If they cannot do that they are not a plasterer but a bodger.
Yes it takes longer. yes it is worth it.
Sorry no advice other than to agree that unless you give him a chance to correct then you owe him in full. might be better to start again though from the sound of it.0 -
On FB recommendation we hotter a plasterer to skim the hall stairs and landing. This was just before lockdown. We were away fir two days and let him get on with it. Few weeks later we had a decorator in to paint walls ceilings coving and woodwork. We went to replace the sockets and the light switches. - when weo took old one off half the plaster cane with it. This is what it looks like with the new one we tried to fit......we contacted the plasterer ( this is not the only issue ) and he's saying why have we only justi informed him, he says he took all the sockets and light switches off and blames the decorator for painting over it. Thoughts! ,0

this was one of the sockets we had to take off. We had to get someone to sand down the coving and ceiling as there was lumps of plaster everywhere
