I may be a dinosaur, but why do people insist on paying very small amounts of money to park their cars using "app" thingies, (whatever they are).
How many pleas for help do we get here from people who have received PCNs for non-payment of car parking fees. Has anyone been taken to court yet?
For goodness sake people you are shooting yourselves in the feet here, why not instead use circular metal disks embossed with Her Majesty's head, they are known as "coins".

You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

Apps mean no need to carry coins, and can be convenient - no need to find the machine if its a car park you use regularly
Its also a boon if you claim expenses, as you get a VAT-reciepted list of parking.0 -
many car parks are now cashless , card , app or park elsewhere ,0

Because not every payment machine has caught up with payment by groats yet! To be honest more and more payment machine are removing the ability to pay using cash and insist on card or "app." Having recently joined the "app" generation, I found it quite useful, cheaper and easy to use. Now, if there was just ONE that worked for every car park in the country, that would be better. For goodness sake people you are shooting yourselves in the feet here, why not instead use circular metal disks embossed with Her Majesty's head, they are known as "coins".0 -

So right you are ........ the population has gone "app mad"
I won't even use contactless as I do not trust that someone else close to me has a cloning machine

Or too little understood about it?
It is not possible to clone a card from listening to the exchange made in transactions. it is a lot more complicated than that.
More realistic is skimming small transactions from many and hoping no-one notices. Again not going to happenin the real world. In order to take transactions would require a process that would reveal a trail and as such the reward/return of doing this to skim small amounts (that you know someone will indeed notice) is not going to be worth it. There are better wasy to get money.
Unfortunatly even with contactless the methods of misuse are going to be down to the user again. Leaving the card where is can be stolne by a random and used for a few small transactions untill it demands a pin. Are you saying you cannot stop yourself from having cards stolen? If not then you would be fine with it.0 -

I'm sure there must be some car parks, but I've not heard of any, but it would be so efficient if, having set up your account, the act of driving in, captured by high quality ANPR, triggered the opening of your stay, on departure closed your stay and your card charged the correct amount.
It would relieve the burden on our overstretched private parking industry, perhaps releasing a few staff for boots on the ground activity, like [STRIKE]looking for tyres touching white lines[/STRIKE] directing traffic into and out of spaces, helping the elderly put their shopping into their car boot, and generally keeping a security watch over the car park.
They can also get on with challenging the 22 stone soap dodger who has decided to opt out of fitness training for the day, and parked his pickup truck over two disabled bays alongside the store entrance. And let's not forget about ambulances parking on double yellows so the driver can grab some lunch! :cool:Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

why not make the car park free for a couple of hours , you could even write on the signs [STRIKE]in small print[/STRIKE] that you are not allowed to park and !!!!!! off , off site0
