Money transfer error - advice needed please

I'll just try a third time with slightly different words before bowing out. When you access the money transfer facility on the Tesco Credit Card site, does it only allow transfers to bank accounts, or does the facility also allow for transfers to card accounts?
I don't actually get your question either to be honest! What payment method would a 'transfer to a card account' be? Are you talking about transfers to credit cards or prepay cards? If so, normally either it's a faster payment through a routing system, or a card payment made at the receiving end. I can't think of any way money could be sent from one card to another, from the sending card, without a bank account number.0 -
I'm sorry you think I'm not providing enough info - I thought I had provided answers to all the questions. ......
And yet you're not answering the question that TT emboldened in the post quoted. I don't understand why?The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -

My thinking (guesswork because I don't have a Tesco credit card) is that it may allow both types of transfer but when a sort code is entered it will be expecting an 8-digit bank account number and without a sort code it will be expecting a 16-digit card number.
Either way, as said earlier, the fact that it accepts 16 digits with a sort code suggests the system has been designed incorrectly and you should have reasonable grounds to complain if your money is not returned.
This is the screen:
It looks poorly designed to me. The back-end should have caught invalid details.
The details are accepted:0 -

SnowTiger, is there a follow-on screen to the first one, asking the user to check and confirm the details input before final submission and update?
All my bank accounts have this when setting up a new payee, I'd regard it as a major flaw if Tesco don't have it in this example. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -

If you didn't know a recipient's bank account details - or they didn't want to divulge them - but you knew the 16-digit debit card number, perhaps you could transmit funds that way. That's what I was getting at.
Anyway, thanks to Snow Tiger for the screen shots. It definitely looks like Tesco has dropped the ball here with its processing/validation and OP should have reasonable grounds for complaint if the money is not actually retrieved.0 -

What I am saying is, there is no payment method in the UK which would support sending money like that. You need an account number to send money by faster payment, BACS or CHAPS.
I guess you might be able to do a refund through a POS but I highly doubt any banks are using that as a way of regularly transferring money, it would cause no end of problems.
Basically as far as I know you can't send money to a card number.0 -

Thanks, I read that. It doesn't change the act you need a bank account number to send money.0 -

Yes, fine, thanks for the info.
I was simply asking the question to find out what the screens within the Tesco site were purporting to facilitate. There also used to be a facility (certainly within the Visa card processing rules) called a Cardholder Funds Transfer (CFT). I believe that was intended to support card to card/bank transfers.0
