Brexit the economy and house prices part 7: Brexit Harder

Also, if you look at how often the UK was outvoted in the Council of the EU, you'll find that
https://www.theguardian.com/world/datablog/2015/nov/02/is-uk-winner-or-loser-european-council
the UK voted on the winning side 97.4% of the time in 2004-09 and 86.7% of the time in 2009-15.
Not just that - some of the initiatives in which the UK was voted against were highly divisive, and who knows how the British electorate would have reacted if consulted explicitly (e.g. cap on bankers' bonuses).0 -

What a mess this is. Really, does no one on the Brexit/Leaver side realise what is going to happen?
I reckon not. Rule Brittania and we will all rule everyone. Not going to happen I reckon.
But enjoy the next few weeks of EU membership.0 -
As a leave voter the machinations in Parliament are a joy to behold.
For decades our political class have had a wonderfully benign existence slowly handing over our sovereignty to maninland Europe and its now great to see the !!!!ers having to make real decisions under real pressure from the public, and guess what some of them are absolutely hating it. To some of them being an MP wasn’t supposed to be this way, not being able to ignore your constituents in between elections has ruined their nice and cosy life on full expenses.
Crisis, what crisis?“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -
The MPs were flying the plane on auto pilot mode for long. Now auto pilot disabled and they discovered they don't know how to fly.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0

I feel like I've jumped into a time machine and gone back to 2016, judging by the last few pages.
There really isn't any point in discussing the machinations of the Brexit campaign. It's gone.
The point of reconciliation between the EU and the UK has passed. Donald Tusk would not talk about a special place in hell if he had any intention of courting Brexiteer politicians.0 -

Why would he? It is blatantly obvious to anyone with any brain that the Brexit plan was non existent and without any sketch of a plan.0 -
The only point is realising that, if fake news are still being spread on the undemocratic nature of the EU, there really is no hope.
Talking to Brexiters is like explaining the merits of gun control to a Texan.
Brexit has never been about 'democracy', about better business opportunities, about taking back control or any of that. It's been about a blind ideology, a cult, a religion, which, like any cult, requires blind faith and is oblivious to any logic which dares challenge its core beliefs.
It's the equivalent of a mid-life crisis tantrum by a man who refuses to accept that his glory days are over, and leaves his family in the misguided delusion that he can conquer any 20-year old he likes.
This is why Boris said F* business when it was pointed out business would suffer.
This is why Dyson moved its HQ to Singapore and Rees-Mogs (or however his name is spelt) opened a fund in Dublin.
This is why they keep talking about 'technological solutions' for the Irish border yet fail to produce a single example of where such techno marvels would be employed in the world.
This is why Cornwall voted for Brexit, even though it's one of the most British, most white areas with the least immigrants (not to mention recipient of a lot of EU aid).
The one things even the most fervent, foaming-at-the-mouth Brexiters shouldn't possibly disagree on is that Brexiters have no plan. You don't think that the EU is democratic, you don't think that the UK is better off in the Union etc etc? Fine. But where are the Brexiters' plans? Where are the people who said we'd hold all the cards? Where are the pro-cake people? What's their grand vision?0 -

The working time directive. UK citizens deserve the right to be sacked for refusing to work more than 48 hours a week.
We also resisted cleaning our beaches until forced to by the EU overlords, after brexit we will have the right to swim among our own faeces.
Subsidising industries, we should work harder, pay more taxes and be bled dry so that the government can buy votes by propping up some heavily unionised cinderella industries.
The EU constantly sides with the people instead of the ruling elite, what is the point in owning people if you can't force them to do whatever you want? The point of reconciliation between the EU and the UK has passed. Donald Tusk would not talk about a special place in hell if he had any intention of courting Brexiteer politicians.
How exactly do you court someone who hates your very existence? The brexit politicians and the leave voters revealed themselves, the only option is ignoring them or letting them ruin the country. Appeasement never works, it's in nobodies interest.0 -
And wasn't it the EU who also forced us to stop using newspaper to wrap fish and chips? How dare they? I want to eat lead with my fish! I want to take back the right to poison myself!0
