Brexit the economy and house prices part 7: Brexit Harder

I think if we had been told the truth about their intentions in 1973 we would have been long out of the common market before it got too big for its boots.
As it is, the government and the common market kept things from us in the hope that we would not realise what was happening before it was too late to leave.
It is a shame, I have always liked the idea of the eec/common market, but not the political entity it has become, and it has become way too protectionist on top of everything else.
And it is ridiculous the way it moves the whole parliament between two cointries just to appese the French! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

It's pointless what you say.
There is no trust.
Maybe both sides were spoiling for a fight from the off, who knows.
In 2014 Nick Clegg took part in a debate and told Nigel Farage to his face that the EU plans for an EU army were nonsense.
That was nonsense too. It leads to a lack of trust.0 -

Ever closer union in 3 easy steps:
Step 1: "It's not going to happen"
Step 2: "That's not what's going to happen, you're misrepresenting the policy, blah blah project fear"
Step 3: "It's already happened and it's too late to do anything about it now"
Fundamentally Brexit is a rebellion against Step 3, which is why everyone with a vested interest is so het up about it. The breakdown of the catechism could be a much bigger loss to the project than the UK's contributions.0 -
But we could always leave at step 3, instead of leaving to avoid something which may or may not happen.
Leaving before then is stupid, because then we'd have no chance to stop the things happening that we don't like. From the outside we'll have to follow along with no say.0 -

On the verge of happening. The ECB is attempting to manage diverse economies with the same fiscal rules. Germany is doing ok. Italy is in deep long term recession. One size does not fit all. Unless everyone is on the same platform. One idea being mooted is that Multinationals pay their tax to Brussels who then share it out. As with every situation it will turn into a bun fight. Everyone is mates until it hurts them in the pocket........0 -

The following quite succinctly deals with the demonising of the EU by the brexiteers which seems to have been more popular than usual on here over the last few days:
