but haven't you already had them out, and been told you have made matters worse and its best left in place?Helena2006 wrote: »"The first time they came out the guy rolled his eyes and say ‘we wouldn’t remove it as it’s best left alone’
Then when I asked him to test it and he said I would have to get some tiles up for him to just have a look to see"0 -
They did not inform before NO.Helena2006 wrote: »Did they inform you of the asbestos in your ceiling and your tiles? Out of interest ?
Had a leak upstairs and part of the ceiling needed replacing, they came out to test it first and as it had asbestos in it they had to have it removed properly. It was removed by one team and replaced by another.
When the Kitchen was re done again the ceiling needed to come down as it was a complete refit. Once again asbestos team came out sealed the room and removed it before it was re boarded and skimmed by different people.
Its pretty safe to assume that as all the plasterboard would have been fitted at the same time when the house was built that it ALL contains asbestos.
It is ONLY a health risk when it is removed or broken etc when fibres can be released into the air and then breathed into your lungs.
I am not in the slightest bit concerned i have it in my house and nor are the housing association. They are only concerned when it has to be worked on or removed.
Nobody has ever died from a broken floor tile that had asbestos in it. It is usually people that worked with asbestos for a long time breathing it in before they realised how dangerous it is.
think of it like this, if you smoke 1 cigarette its not very likely you will get lung cancer because of it but, smoke 1000s of them and your risk increases. Smoke for 20-30 years and its very likely you will get it.0 -
Thanks
Can I ask when was your house built and what kind of ceiling was it?0 -
