We have purchased from harveys, DFS and Sofology before and they have never really lasted - have you got any small independent furniture stores that you could try?
Ok, maybe not have the choice, but may find something made in the UK and of a better quality than the DFS stuff, most of which is made in Asia.0 -
We previously had a pair of Multiyork sofas that we bought brand new and which were in perfect condition when we sold them eight years later....sadly no longer in business.
A leather sofa we purchased from DFS also - surprisingly - stood up to everyday use with two dogs and three cats and we got a good price when we sold it after six years.
We've also previously had Ikea (average), M&S (good) and Tetrad (very good).
I'd have to agree with Davesnave, that by buying second hand you can often bag a great bargain
Currently we have -
1) Antique art nouveau sofa, 100+ years old, bought online £400 Inc delivery
2) Antique arts & crafts sofa, 90(?) years old, bought online £200
3) Vintage 1980s sofa (reupholstered by me
), bought online £52 plus £80 for fabric
4) Knole sofa, bought new, direct from upholstery co in 2000, cost £695
5) Second hand two year old John Lewis sofa, bought online for £300 (retails for £2000)Mortgage-free for fourteen years!
Over £40,000 mis-sold PPI reclaimed0
