Old Style Daily Tuesday 15th January

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone,
Thanks for the clarification yesterday on the three types of teacakes that exist haha!! Puts me in the mood for baking something actually.
But for now, I'm in work early to make some calls into Asia again. I think this going to be thing for every Tuesday. I don't mind particularly, as this is time I should be getting up for the gym but I just need to remember to leave early otherwise I'm doing a crazy shift!!
Speaking of which, I'll head to the gym after work then home via the post office. Easy chicken wraps for dinner tonight and I'm not entirely sure what else.
I went to the gym after work yesterday, so at peak gym time and it was crazy busy. Everything was being used, and i mean everything. There was a queue to get in to the gym and a queue to get out. I'm not so keen on all that so I was in for all of 15 minutes and left in frustration. I'm sure that'll die down in a few weeks as all the new year resolution people drop off.
Have a good day everyone!!0 -
Morning everyone
speky - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still pitch black here, but dry underfoot.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, tonight will be gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato and peas. On Saturday I had a craving for soup for lunch, so I made a pot of carrot, butternut squash and potato soup - lovely it was too, so had enough for yesterday and today's lunch, it's cheap to make too, so I probably have soup for lunch whilst it's cold.
Yesterday work was very quiet to start and then went manic, and there were customers waiting to be seen and a queue - we got through them eventually, not sure what today will bring, hopefully another busy day - the day flew past yesterday and today is my early finish too. I have a day off tomorrow too, so short week for me although I'm working Saturday morning.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks SPEKY for starting us off.
A drab cloudy day is forecast for us but at least no wind or rain so I'll settle for that.
No Tuesday coffee meet up today as my friend is going on the Settle - Carlisle train with her DH. Taking advantage whilst the winter offer is on. We had a brief meet up yesterday instead before her stint at the cs.
It's the last week of the Panto season and, as usually happens, any unsold seats are being sold off for £15 each so we are taking advantage and off over to the Alhambra tonight for a second viewing! DS, DP and her DD are picking me up and we are meeting the others at the theatre for a pre-show drink. Looking forward to watching the DGDs again. It seems an age since we watched it on the opening week in December. Middle DGD just wishes it would run forever as she loves performing!
I should really get back on the de-cluttering wagon but seem to have lost the initial enthusiasm I found for it. That lasted for all of a day!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. And all going through/waiting for treatment. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Internet ate my post.
Chaps are breakfasted, they have had bacon sandwiches before a day out. I was meant to wake them at 6, set tge alarm but I was up at 3 anyhow. Anyhow is how I feel, am a bit shaky and achy and my stomach is upset. Never mind, it will pass.
TA I'm sure you will get your motivation back but it is bound to ge up and down for you at present.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possibleI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -

Good morning everyone :hello:
Thank you Speky for starting us off this morning. I'm so tired this morning and I have a sore throat to add to my woes. Hopefully it will disappear once I have had a cup of tea and some painkillers. I am sat here listening to disney songs which is cheering me up. Steve has left for work and Lilly will be going to college in a minute as she has an early exam.
I managed to sort an online order for shopping in the early hours while I was up so that is out of the way. I don't have anything else to do today so I will be huddling up under my blanket and looking for a half decent film to watch. The kids had a tidy through yesterday so it still looks nice downstairs.
Fishcakes, baby potatoes and salad for dinner tonight. Lee seriously tempted me yesterday as he made a cheesecake which is my favourite dessert. I didn't have any but there is still a huge piece in the fridge. I hope the kids eat it quickly so I don't have to think about it
. Actually, not having any sweet stuff since I came home from hospital has decimated my sweet tooth. I am very happy about that and so is my diabetes
. My blood sugars have been really really good lately so my diabetic nurse will be pleased too when I next see her.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning all
Colder here today I have a blankey over my knees and have turned the heating up a bit, I wish I could stay here all day !!
I have to go to work and cook the tea cakes today I shall report back on how they taste, that's the trouble with all this cooking I do have to taste it for quality control
Pork chops for dinner tonight with mash and veg and I will need to put a wash on when I get back from work.
Right best get on have good days all xx0 -
Good morning, it seems to be chilly here. Not that I've been outside, I can tell by the house temperature.
Never mind the heating has just clicked on.
Thanks for starting off Speky.
I had a routine dental check up yesterday, no work needed thank heavens.
It was a nice day so we scrubbed the backyard using cheap bio detergent and the power hose thing. It came up pretty well.
Tai chi starts again today, and I've got another routine appointment, hospital this time, then it'll be the usual Tuesday quiz tonight
TA I'm sure you'll get your declutter mojo back. Hope you enjoy tonight's performance.
Hope everyone has as good a day as they can
Take care folks0 -
Good Morning

Thanks for the start Speky and the great teacake debate yesterday. I haven't heard of a savoury one either wonder if its a regional thing. I have an odd connection with teacakes which is the wrvs cafes in my local hospitals ...whenever i have appointments or am visiting I have to factor in a wrvs tea cake as they just taste so good when they do them
Typical Monday night sleep ..couple of hours max that will be because its Mum day today joy of joys wonder what little gems she will have in store for me.Bit of shopping to pick up myself at some point and may go via Costco as they have some voucher deals on I just need to stick to my list though as Costco can be an expensive shop if I'm not careful.
Finished the sprouts and bacon last night so would prefer not to see another now for a few months ...maybe easter 2020
Eating out today but tend to be a bit stressed on a Tues to enjoy it ...last week I ate about 2 mouthfuls so in case that happens again I am taking tin foil so at least I could bring it home and enjoy it later :money:
Happy to have Cold Feet back for a series. I am teasing myself to watch it tonight when I breathe again
Hope you all have a good day I'll see you on the other side
