Huawei or Range Rover or Three fault???

Happy New Year Everyone go a bit of a dilmea

Want to know were I stand with the following situation.

So have a Huawei P10 moblie on Three contract due to end in July. I purchased a new Range Rover Velar begining of October 2018. Since then had nothing but trouble connecting the phone to the media system via bluetooth. Once paired it then connects and disconnects constantly sometimes staying connected but is very unstable and can disconnect at anytime. I am assuming that the standard bluetooth system works by phone being the master and the media system in the car being like a slave? Yet the actual phone bluetooth switches off at disconnection. (bluetooth symbol goes grey and blue constantly). Would the slave have the authority to switch the bluetooth off on the master???

Huawei informed me to wait for update for phone firmware then a month later informed me the phone wasnt getting an update. After telling them about the symbol status was informed to ship back for repair. Had to purchase a new basic phone to get through while the P10 being away for repair. Purchased a Huawei Honor 7s, this had no connection issues with the Range Rover, just very slow and very limited due to memory size. On return of phone informed that a GPS fault was found (even though I had no GPS issue) and a new main board was fitted. Changing the IMEI number. Exactly the same issue when it was return.

I have now tested the phone on another Range Rover Velar and had same switching on/off issues. I have also checked my wifes Huawei P Smart phone and this works fine, also the kids IPhone 6s and Iphone 7 also work perfectly. Would like to think that the Huawei bluetooth architecture was the same for all phones?

The P10 has been sent back again for another check and repair and came back with no issue found.:mad::mad:

I would like to know were you think I stand with this issue, who you think is responsible for the issue (Huawei, Range Rover or Three). As been three months now and just been told by Huawei this has been escalated and we will update you when possible.

Thanks in advance everyone for read hope some can shed a bit of light on whats my best options.

Cheers

I can't solve your issue, but perhaps to ward off any future issues, make sure your network knows the Manufacturer's repair has changed the IMEI. I've seen this cause chaos in the past.

Have you tried connecting the handset to other Bluetooth devices? Does this work? YOU might want to speak to Rover and see if they're aware of an issue. Remember the Consumers Rights Act says you don't have to accept repeated repairs to an item.

If the issue is a faulty handset the remedy lies with the party you bought it from.

    Thanks PMDUK:beer:

Yes I have a set of bluetooth ear defenders (for work) they seem to be OK. I have also noticed on the Land Rover website that the P10 (VTR-L09) is a compatible phone.:mad:.

When I originaly contacted Three they just said send the phone back for repair under 2 year warrenty. Should I now let Three know the IMEI number has changed and its still not functioning correct??

    Thanks again

Part of the joys of Bluetooth are connection issues. No one is really to blame. Sometimes it is just flaky. How about just not connecting your phone to the car?

Additionally car manufacturers don't guarantee your phone will work on their systems.

For my own testing, and to build a case, I'd be connecting as many different phones to the car as possible - to show (hopefully) that the phone is at fault, and not the car. The phone's easier to change than the car!

As above I have tested the following phones bluetooth connection and all work perfect :-

    Huawei Honor 7s
    Huawei P Smart
    Iphone 7
    Iphone 6s

P10 also didn't work in another Range Rover Velar. I have had Huawei check the specs of the P10 against what Land Rover claim a compatible Huawei P10 phone is and Huawei said phone specs the same

    :wall::wall::wall:

    Thanks

Have you spoken to the JLR dealer, there may be a software update?

I had an XF which wouldn't connect fully to an HTC phone, contact list wouldn't download, even though Jag said it should. One of the Bluetooth Protocols hadn't been implemented properly, but strangely enough when I purchased a newer model it worked perfectly.

Good call on the software update for the car - once you've checked/done that, and with your list of working phones, you can blame the phone more confidently.

And Bluetooth helps you concentrate on your driving!
