Euro Car Parks

I have a PCN from Euro Car Parks for overstaying in Sainsbury’s. Popla appeal rejected and now have debt collectors letter. If I write to ECP offering the original £70, saying I do not believe the £130 inflated debt collectors charge is fair, what are my chances of them accepting this offer? I am not looking for a long, time consuming battle. Thanks!

    None.

They've passed it to debt collectors to collect on their behalf. If they strike lucky, ECP get their £70, the debt beggar gets £60 (their standard no win no fee charge).

I expect part of their contract won't allow the PPC to negotiate any settlement, effectively cutting the DC out of the picture.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

They will not accept that offer.

You only way to avoid "a long, time consuming battle" is to pay what the debt collector is asking for.

    But why pay anything?

Have you read the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread yet?

Thanks. I’ve spent a long time reading the threads but have not seen any mentions of similar cases that say all ends well if you just ignore.

Then clearly you haven't read post #4 of the NEWBIES thread.

How many threads did you read about Euro Car Parks' court cases?
    Hint: you won't find any.

Euro Car Parks never sue anyone about a PCN in England/Wales.

Debt collectors can't start proceedings, or do anything, but you know that from the NEWBIES thread 4th post, all about 'ignore the debt collectors' stage.

It all ends well, when the PPC is ECP. I've done it myself, before appeals existed.

But what happened when you complained to the Store Manager like this person did?

Are you saying you did something like this Google search (exact words, copy into Google):

euro car parks ignore debt site:forums.moneysavingexpert.com

...and saw nothing to assist you to calm down and ignore?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks guys for the reassurance. I surely have read Newbies #4 but it appeared limited but with lots of links and lots of long posts to read I ended up a little unsure so decided to post. Sorry if it’s all been said before but I’m grateful for the personalised advice.

It's better regulars repeat things than people go and pay.

The links in post #4 are there to be read...for a reason! To stop threads about debt collectors.
