  • so 2 carpet fitters came in the end, one was £400 and one was £150 which was more in line with what I was expecting.

been a slow few days and a very long month since pay day with getting paid early over xmas, had to get the dogs yearly check up and injections yesterday which was £75.

not made any more payments to my target which is annoying as I am very impatient.

  • been a slow couple of days, had some good news today though, a couple of months ago I asked my boss for a pay rise, today they came back to me with a yes so from the end of Feb I will be about £200 a month better off so that will help towards the overpayment target.

My kitchen is nearly done now and I must say its looking great, cant wait to move back in and out of this rental property where it seems everything is falling apart!

  • Well I'm working from home today and tomorrow so spends should be minimal.

Got a small expenses payment today so have paid that off the card.

Managed to get the kitchen painted over the weekend, carpenter is coming back today to fix a couple of small snags and put the wall cupboards back up from where I decorated. Going to spend a couple of hours today painting whilst on conference calls, a little bit of cheeky multitasking but needs must.

As I've still got a fair amount to lay out on the flat I wont be making so many payments this month until that's all done. Roll on 23rd Feb when it should all be sorted and we should be back in!

  • Gosh I cant believe that it was Feb since I last posted!

Things have all taken a bit of a complicated turn so I haven't managed to make quite the progress I have wanted.

I moved back into my flat in Feb as planned thank goodness but spent all the insurance money and a bit more doing the renovations, however since then the freeholder has announced a major works programme commencing in 18 months that will generate me a £15-20k bill so that was a lovely surprise and one that I wont be taking lying down if there are issues with the proposed works once they issue more details.

After a small delay I filed for divorce back in April and the decree Nisi is due to be granted today, then it will be onwards with the financial settlement which the STBX is still not willing to discuss despite my numerous attempts, so the final step is an invite to mediation and if necessary court but we all know the only people that win then are the solicitors.

I reached my saving target and mortgage target back in June due to a good bonus from work, I didn't pay it off the mortgage though as with the divorce on the Horizon thought I may need the cash so that's tucked away.

Next year I am hoping it will be onwards and upwards, I have had a 10% pay rise this year and a 10% drop in outgoings, also in march my company car lease is up and that will give me £500 additional take home pay per month although I will need to get a car and pay all its costs etc.

I shall be posting more often to keep me on track, I want to move in the next 12/18 months, my flat will be worth less because of this looming major works but I cant live in my 1 bed flat much longer DD is 10 next spring and we really need our own bedrooms sooner rather then later.
