How long do cars last (toyota and nissan)
asking for both me and someone else..
1.out of toyota and nissan which is known to last longer?
2.the nissan has just come back with a not working airbag front wheel and a cv boot axle issue.. why would this airbag not be working suddenly and how is a cv boot axle issue caused? is this the end days of the car?
3. the toyota car is a yaris 2011 1.33L petrol 100hp (2013 model), how long do these typically last milage wise?
thank you in advanced

Sounds like you just drive it and don't pamper it. Neighbours 1974 Datsun 120Y is immaculate. He spends hours polishing it every week though, even underneath.
How long do they last, depends on how often the oil gets changed and how you drive it.
Any well looked after petrol engine should do 200,000 miles. Diesels 500,000
But cars are treated like consumables.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
The Yaris is ours
Nissan someone elses..
Both are serviced yearly
Nissan axle fix is £200 finding it hard to understand from them whats gone wrong with axle buts it something about something pushing on it??? the airbag is confusing didnt realise they just stopped working!
Nissan is 9 and done 97000
Yaris is 6 and done 67000
Thanks for any help + insight anyone0 -

CV joint boot broken happens pain to replace easier to just replace them. No need to suggest it's end of life.0 -
The car will last for as long as you're willing to spend money fixing things.
Some people use little problems as the excuse to get rid of the car and buy a much newer and shinier one. So they might spend £10000 to avoid paying £200.
On old cars, rubber bits perish, joints wear out, and so on. That's true of any make.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
The airbag connections may have come loose or worn.Nissan axle fix is £200 finding it hard to understand from them whats gone wrong with axle buts it something about something pushing on it??? the airbag is confusing didnt realise they just stopped working!

Things wear and break it happens with older cars.
Given the choice of which would last longer I'd say assuming same milage of say 10k yr the Yaris as its younger.0 -
Airbag fault is likely to be electrical. Might be easy to remedy or might be a pain. Split cv boot allows dirt onto the cv joint causing it to fail. Its often cost effective to replace the driveshaft rather than remove the cv joint from it.2.the nissan has just come back with a not working airbag front wheel and a cv boot axle issue.. why would this airbag not be working suddenly and how is a cv boot axle issue caused? is this the end days of the car?
Failed cv boot is not unusual though fortunately not as common as it used to be. Airbag faults are unlucky. Sometimes they fail and need attention.
The cost of repairs compared to the value and condition of the car decide if they are worth doing.0 -
How long's a piece of string?1.out of toyota and nissan which is known to last longer?
The airbag light covers all the SRS - supplementary restraint system - airbag plus seatbelt pretensioners. The normal cause is a fractured wire to the pretensioners where the seat's been moved forward and backward a lot or rear passengers have kicked it.2.the nissan has just come back with a not working airbag front wheel and a cv boot axle issue.. why would this airbag not be working suddenly and how is a cv boot axle issue caused? is this the end days of the car?
CV boots are simple consumables, and fail through wear. They flex all the time the car's in motion, especially while it's steering or suspension movement is occurring.
It all depends on how well it's maintained, and whether you view "maintenance" as simply being an oil change and MOT every year, or whether you understand that parts have finite lives.3. the toyota car is a yaris 2011 1.33L petrol 100hp (2013 model), how long do these typically last milage wise?0 -
Thanks so you think cv boot thing is nothing to worry about re life span car?0

Definitely not! Thanks so you think cv boot thing is nothing to worry about re life span car?
The driveshaft is a bolt-in piece that goes between gearbox and wheel hub.
At each end of that is a flexible constant velocity joint that allows movement.
Each of those joints has a rubber boot keeping dirt out.
It's no more than that.
The boot itself is a tenner, and maybe an hour and a half to fit.
