Regarding being locked, I am on the phone to a friend and he says if it was locked, I would get an error message saying it is locked to a network.
I just checked the sales listing again and it is most definitely not locked. I would not have bought it if it was because I already have an account with Virgin with money credit on the number.0 -
do you have the link for the amazon site,so we can check the specs?0

I checked them. It says "Unlocked, SIM free".
Have now concluded that the phone is faulty, and have just bought another one, different make and model this time.
Thanks everyone for giving your time and attention to this wee problem.
Cheers
