My dad recieved a letter through the post around September time stating a 60 pound fine I think it was and showed 2-3 pictures of his car stopped on an empty road, he dosent recall parking there which leads me to believe he may have stalled there for a moment, the letter state 2 locations which are around a minute apart from each other
It was in September when the first letter came from defence systems after which letters from drp started coming in increasing the fine, originally I had saw on a few sites stating to ignore the fine as it is an invoice rather than a fine so I advised him to ignore all letters , only yesterday I came accross the newbie post stating to appeal it and ignoring it is no longer a valid response
Yesterday I recieved a letter from drp offering to settle the matter for 150 instead of 170 and i was wondering what step should be taken at this point as I wasn't really wanting a court case because my dad won't be very good with defending his claim
P. S one thing I noticed is on every letter my dad's last name was spelt wrong

But, rather paradoxically, ignoring DRP is now the correct action. They are powerless. Your father now stays in ignore mode unless or until Defence Systems decide to issue court proceedings against him.
All this could have been avoided had he not been badly advised a few months ago - all too late now.P. Yesterday I received a letter from drp ...
Or did perhaps your Dad receive that letter?
It really is important that the right person reacts appropriately.
Anyway, post #4 of the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread explains exactly how to deal with debt collector's letters.0 -
Ah thanks for the quick reply and can't really find the posts now after go ogling so not really sure where the replies originated, iv seen some posts where it states the next stage would be Gladstone sending letters, would I ignore that as well and just wait for a letter from defence system directly right?0

If the court process starts it's likely to come from a third party intermediary like Gladstones. Don't ignore anything from them, but do be aware that DRP use G's letterheads to chase the unwary motorist who often believes it's a realsolicitor letter and pays up in trepidation.
But you're now aware of that ruse, you won't be forced into an unnecessary knee jerk reaction. You can always come back on this thread to check out any communication.
