ESA SG to UC?

Hi, will my ESA SG payments be stopped while i'm waiting for UC to come through or do I keep getting them? I heard it takes up to 5/6 weeks to have first payment of UC.

They will eventually stop. When you start your claim for UC any money you receive from ESA will be deducted from your first UC payment.

As you're in the Support Group for ESA then DWP should honour this and place you in the relevant group for UV (LCWRA) If you receive the severe disability premium in with your ESA then you will lose this disability premium because it's not paid on UC.

Is your ESA Contribution-based or Income-based?

You will be entitled to the UC basic allowance plus the LCWRA element plus help with your rent up to the LHA rate for a 1 bedroom property (because you receive high rate care element of DLA as discussed in your previous thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5695972/shared-accomodation-rate-and-dla-confusion).

The UC basic allowance is less for those less than 25 years old. I note from other posts by you earlier in the year that you were 24 in August. Are you still 24 or have you now turned 25?

You may not get the LCWRA element immediately because UC have to obtain information from ESA which can cause a delay.

You can request a UC advance but this is repayable from future payments so the future payments are reduced.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.
