Paying BT £60 a month for BB?

Nomatter what I do I always seem to end up paying BT £60 for my broadband. A big chunk of the cost is line rental. So imagine my surprise at visiting uSwitch and seeing TalkTalk there at twenty-something quid for more or less the same service, £0 for the line (unlimited Infinity 2, no TV, phone line but NEVER use it).
Am I missing something or is BT completely out of whack with everyone else? Can I get them to price-match or something, to save me the bother of switching?
Anybody done this before? I've been with BT for 10 years and never really thought about it...

It’s always worth giving the other providers a call to see what they can offer. £60 for BB does seem excessive.0

It's the same with everything you pay monthly: Phone contracts, Internet, TV, Utilities (gas, electric), Home/car insurance.
If you leave it to renew you are getting ripped off.
It is in your best interest to shop around every time your contract ends and get a better deal or have your provider price match although lots will say they cannot.
Use comparison websites and quidco/topcashback to get the best deals.
Fun fact: When sales people on the phone say "this is the best deal we can do" they are lying. You will find better deals on websites.0 -
You pay line rental for the data line your BB travels down not for phone calls.
Do you need Infinity 2 ??
I pay BT £36 pm for Line Rental ( advanced payment ) + Infinity 1 up to 52 meg + BT Max TV and BT Sport HD .
Thats via out of contract negotiations with rententions team .
Reading the OP last 3 or 4 price rises probably included as no mention of negotiating a better deal .Likewise at end of contract .0 -
£60 a month sounds expensive! I pay Sky £23 for line rental, ADSL2+ broadband, and a mobile SIM with unlimited minutes/texts.0

I pay them £32 for a similar deal (no Sport). I didn't have to haggle.0 -
So I just double-checked it all and I've got Superfast Fibre 2 Unlimited package, which is about £60. I guess I'm getting what I paid for. Still seems expensive. May downgrade when contract is up for which the date is inexplicably missing from MyBT at their website,0

I’ve got that plus a BT sim with 6gb/mth data and pay either £42 or £45/mth can’t remember which off the top of my head.0 -
It's the Infinity 2 which is boosting your payment, but do you really need it?
I get, and it's the wifi I measure, around 48 gb or mb, whatever, Infinity 1, and I currently pay £29.99 a month. That's the bb, line rental, and anytime calls!!David.0
