Why not tell us what car/age/mileage it is to give us a chance of providing useful answers? Although it's very unlikely that anyone is going to recommend Halfords or KwikFit.0

Find a good local garage.
2013 320d...? Have you googled N47 timing chain woes...? Oil changes are VITAL!0 -

5/6 years old then decent garage and get them to stamp the book if for no other reason than to give you an idea of when it was last done. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Use a decent independent garage or a BMW specialist if you have one near. Might be worth getting a quote from your BMW dealer though, they're sometimes not as expensive as you might think.0

Whilst under warranty I will always use a main dealer, after that my local independent garage.0

My very strong advice would be to get it serviced every 9,000 miles, NOT the 18,000 or so the car / BMW will tell you.
Also, check the oil level twice a month and top it up as necessary.
The oil - no matter what internet "experts" will tell you degrades horribly at those intervals and the engine also uses oil.
Loads of stories of snapped chains but nearly all of them can be traced back to the minimum of servicing and not checking oil levels and topping up.0 -

Mercedes trucks I used to drive years ago were on 100,000km/60,000 mile oil changes. They had a built in centrifugal oil cleaner. No reports of them dying prematurely and many ended up being shipped to Africa having done several hundred thousand km here first.
This isn't the 1970s any more and your opinion is about as worthless as you claim those on the internet are. If it isn't then perhaps you can back up your claims with research and test papers from the last 2/3/4 years? This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
