This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone
bellabella - thanks for starting us off, boo to the not sleeping x
hollyharvey - thinking of you today x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Pitch black here and temperature dropped - you could feel it getting colder as the afternoon went on yesterday.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was jacket potatoes, beans, LO's cheese, gammon, pork pie, small portion of salmon, salad, coleslaw. We really cleared quite a bit of the LO's from NY Day but still have some other LO's so got pork steaks out to defrost for tonight's dinner, we'll have mash, veg, Yorkshires and gravy with those - some of that is LO's - that should help clear the fridge a bit more. I'm planning to later clear and clean the fridge so I can see what's in there - that will help with menu planning going forward into the weekend and next week, I'll also be back to food shopping on a Friday as usual, so need to write a list for tomorrow.
Yesterday work was either so busy we didn't know which way to look or dead - telephones were busy too. Now on days' off though, although I am working Saturday again. I have the usual "to do" list which will start shortly when I put the washing machine on - the washing is never ending in this house. I'm thinking we need to get the tree and decs down too.
Keep safe and well x

Morning :hello:
Thinking of you today Holly xx
Downstairs has been cleaned, you should've seen the amount of dust on the cloths! I set the Dyson to supersonic and vacuumed every square inch of carpet and furniture, I couldn't do upstairs because the battery ran out

It's recharged now but mum wants to come round for coffee this morning. Not sure why, she was here twice last week, I usually see her once a fortnight. I'll vacuum the stairs and bedrooms when she's gone home, I still have strings of beads hanging from the kitchen shelves so I'll take those down too.
Not sure what to do this afternoon. I could make a start on one of my new books or watch one of the recorded films but I don't want to get into the habit of sitting down all afternoon. I've done enough of that over the last week and it's made me very lazy

Morning BELLA and all to follow. Thoughts well and truly with HOLLY this morning and hoping all goes well x
Another fitful sleep with my mind working overtime and the usual early wakening. I am getting fed up. I have tried numerous herbal and aromatherapy remedies but nowt helps. I even put on a Reiki music cd beside the bed in the hope it will relax me but it doesn't. Any magic cures anybody?
It's a bit nippy this morning but once again we have escaped the frost that's forecast around the country. I have the heating on so all feels snug.
I had a good day in Skipton yesterday with my buddy. It was much busier than we expected and most market stalls were up and running. We had a wander in the many cs and browsed the market but spent very little. We enjoyed a lovely late lunch of lasagne, salad and chips, with the obligatory bottle of wine, before heading for the 4.30 bus back home. We both felt like nodding off!
Today I have the 3 DGDs until DD finishes work and then the two youngest are to transport to the Alhambra for the evening performance. As they are missing tea here they have requested Bolognese Pasta Bake for lunch as they haven't had one since before Christmas and have withdrawal symptoms!! The Bolognese is simmering away slowly in readiness. It was my last pack of mince so I must remember to restock.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Especially HOLLY, TAFF & POPPY. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all
Running late as have overslept a bit but I just wanted to wish Holly good luck for today I hope all goes well and you are soon home and on the mend xx
TA apart from something from the Dr the best thing I would say is exercise, can you get out for a walk each day ? you could build up the distance slowly day by day but I think it would help you once you were up to speed ( so to speak ) xx
Have good days all must dash xx0 -
Good morning everyone. It's cold here with a hard frost,
Sorry to hear you had a bad night Bella, I know about bad nights.
TA, I know you're a poor sleeper as well, and have tried everything, so have I. I've got stuff on my MP3 to listen to - supposedly has you sleeping like a baby..Occasionally works, but that's all I settle for now. Lavender, camomile, herbal tablets, they all work occasionally.
Glad you had a good day out TA.
We got all decs down except the tree yesterday, we'll do that today, then vacuum. I had taken everything off the dresser, and arranged it very nicely I thought, with Christmas stuff. Now I can't remember where I put some of the things, so until I do the shelves are a bit bare. I've looked in the likely places nothing there. I'll probably find them on August 15th 2020.
Still one or two leftovers to eat, but we'll do it,
Thoughts to Holly today, and others who are struggling with life.
Take care folks0 -
Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off bellabella
Holly my thoughts are with you today
Didn't go to see mother yesterday, feel a bit guilty.
Didn't need much shopping, just got diary, bread, apples and DH 'found' chocolate cake, he's happy.
Need to tidy and vacuum, maybe even try and sort the freezer, can't find anything when I need it, so annoying.
Take care allIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning everyone
TA - sorry sleep seems so difficult for you right at the moment. Maybe it's just because you're grieving and coming to terms with the shock - it's another stage of the grief. You're grieving for your lovely Bob and the future and all the things you hope to do together and with your family.
People very often say "time is a great healer", to some degree I think that's true but when someone passes away you're shocked, grieving and sad and it takes a while to accept, but I don't think you ever "get over" it, you learn to live with it, but as time goes on, the hurt and pain is easier to live with, some memories still make you sad but some bring happiness and joy.
I hope I haven't offended you and this is just my thoughts and how I perceive grief grips you. I unfortunately know from experience after losing our second baby many years ago, you never get over it but learn to live with it and the pain does lessen but it takes time. If you struggle for a long period of time then maybe speak to your GP.
Keep safe and well x

I hope things go well today Holly.
Don't feel guilty silver-oldie, a lot of people wouldn't go as often as you do to be ignored.
I woke up feeling very dizzy and had to hang on to things as I went to the bathroom. It's a bit better now so hopefully it will pass off, I've got too much to do today.
Steve changed the tap in the en-suite here, the cold water had sopped working. It's great now, but a bit splashy, will have to get used to not turning it on as enthusiastically, oh and the hot and cold are now reversed (not Steve's fault, it's the tap).
As soon as Steve's awake I will go and dress and get on, I want to leave by early afternoon to get back in reasonable time.0
