I'm very tempted by that offer! I'm not sure about the strawberries, because my garden has been sort of infested by those alpine ones, with very little fruit, but proper size ones might be really nice. But even if I passed them on to someone, it's still a lot of edible perennial
And I was looking for a bay plant locally this morning at a plant sale by the horticultural society! Definitely off to have a play on the Thompson & Morgan site, thanks all.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Huh! I have some spare money kicking about on paypal, and tried to use it for this - it didn't accept the order
I'll wait for a bit before reordering, just in case an acceptance email arrives, which they mention. The life of a savvy shopper is never easy
otoh, maybe the internet gods know I already went to a local seed sale this morning, £1 entry, and 2 packets of seeds for £1. Maybe thats all they want me to buy right now

Thank you so much Slowdown for posting the link.
Have ordered it. Only really need blueberry bushes and gooseberries but the deal is excellent and I can find room somewhere for the other bits.
Had some funds in paypal earnt on line so effectively costing me nothing.!

Looks like we'll all be comparing our fruit bushes this year!
Spent a few hours at the bottom of the garden with DH making a start on the rotten shed roof. Managed to remove all of one side and the felt from the other. Covered it all in plastic sheeting and tacked it down so it holds firm for a couple of weeks when we can get the wood and fix it. It took a while and we had to take a few breaks to warm up and bring our hands back to life. Then I can sort out the inside for better storage of tools, seeds, pots etc.
Tomorrow I intend to dig out all the mint if the ground is forgiving enough. It's been taking over one end of a patch and I want to have it in pots only. Put a pot over one rhubarb but I can't locate the nub of the other. I hope it's still under there somewhere.
Happy gardening everyone.0 -
Well I went and looked at the offer, then had a look at Ken Muir - one of the local companies in East Anglia as I am doubtful about some of the offer varieties for me. Then off I popped to Thompson and Morgan and Mr Fothergill.
Well, needless to say, I have ordered lots of seeds on offer, some new varieties and still have not ordered the replacement gooseberries yet (I pruned them wrong and have killed several).
Worst of all, the local fave Nursery (recommended by RHS many years ago, and regularly used since) is closing at the end of March. I will go to their clearance event next week but I feel so sad. I suppose a big plot like theirs must really struggle with internet competition.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Our local council were giving out free trees and plants yesterday so I have some raspberry canes. No idea what they are though, I have emailed their garden works dept. It will be my first time growing soft fruit, I can only plant them in a large container as I am all hard landscaping so if they unfortunately flop then at least it's not cost me anything0

Had an hour at the allotment today. Pruned my raspberries.
Dad moved two gooseberries last year. I warned him they should be moved whilst dormant but would he listen? They seemed to die off straight away so I gave them a real good prune today in the hope they may spring back to life in spring. If not.......they will be replaced with the fruit bush deal.
Now everything has died off I can see my two blueberry bushes in fron of raspberries. They didnt do much last year so I am going to transfer them to two of the large pots I bought. Just need to get some ericaceous (sp?) compost.
My aubergine seeds have germinated :j First time doing these and they are my babies at the moment :rotfl: Just had them on table in front of window. Not leggy so looking promising. Really need to get chillis on the go this week.
Would have spent longer at the allotment but was sooooo cold. My body was OK but feet felt like blocks of ice despite thick socks.Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600 -
Kantankrus mare, can I just ask you if now is the time to move and prune my gooseberry bushes? I haven't touched then yet but need to move one bush. Is there a secret to pruning them? You sound like you know what to do.
Thanks for any advice0 -

Thats funny..............I'm no expert but I was always under the impression that if you are going to move things, its best to do in the winter months whilst dormant. Not sure I know what I'm doing with pruning but I just snip off longest branches and make it tidier. Raspberries (Autumn) are pruned quite close to the ground. Not sure about summer raspberries as I dont grow them and I think they are pruned differently.
I have two blackcurrant bushes also looking straggly. Didnt do anything with them today so will have a google as Im not sure about them.Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600
