There's lots of leftover floor protection from my kitchen renovation that's just finished, and I asked the builders to put it by for me, which they've done. My thinking was that it could insulate propagators, coldframes etc. There's a lot of it, pretty dirty with plaster dust, but there's *so* much of it, I'd like to find uses if I could. What do people think, is it viable? It's black, which is heat-absorbent, but is that a good thing or a bad thing?2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I'd give it a good hoover, cut out the good bits and see what happens, though it's probably more useful for winter insulation - some of it might make a very good kneeler (?) with copious amounts of gaffa tape of course
Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?0 -
On off on off with the rain for the last few days, I don't know what's happening from one minute to the next. The beauty of British spring.
The seedlings are holding on well in the wooden greenhouse, except..... Nothing has a label LOL
Some I can figure out, or at least remember the container they were put into. Some will just have to produce before I can figure it out.
Hopefully time up the plot from tomorrow and then predicted dry spell.Wealth is not measured by currency0 -

Oh how many times have I sown seedlings without labels, convinced I would remember which is which, then of course I don,t especially squash, courgettes and cucumber which all look alike in the early stages. Memory gets worse with age so now I try to remember to write out the labels before I sow the seeds so that I can stick it in straight away.0 -
I have at least written down what I've sown, so that narrows things down a fair bit LOL
I've got a few squashes going on so need to try and remember whose who....Wealth is not measured by currency0 -

Are you talking the massive big round concrete ones? I've lusted after some of hose for a few years after seing them on some garden program...
I'm back to bits of wood, but it's free 4" x 4" sleepers...:)Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
On/ off rain here today but then lovely warm sun inbetween. I wish it would stay dry, the lawn is like a jungle, hopefully next week it will dry out enough to mow.
Took a chance today and bought a bare root rose from Poundland. It has nice green shoots on and the roots seem ok so worth a try for a pound anyway, also got to half wall basket things which I thought was ok for a pound each so at least I have somewhere for my petunias to go without taking up valuable growing space on the floor!
Im rubbish at labelling aswell, I'm waiting at the moment to see which pot i put my carrots in and which is my spring onions..oopsMay Grocery Challenge -£216/4000 -
I've been pretty good labelling, just some tomato seedlings may have got muddled. Don't think any of my friends will moan if their cherry gardener's delight turn out to be moneymaker, or vice versa!
I've still got about 15 spare tomato seedlings, might have to go leaving them on doorsteps in the middle of the night at this rate.
Trying to get enough energy together to go and do some potting on. I've also to make some more planters out of sawn up timbers. Hope I remembered to charge the screwdriver battery.0 -

They're just 9" drainage pipes about a foot high - handy little things to have around to build height without going to a full on chimney pot. These are earmarked for a couple of Physalis

Rain on & off here too, but got more done than expected even though my tea breaks seemed to sync up with the sun coming out. Potted up a couple of Physalis, couple of chillis, made some headway getting my tomatoes sorted and cut back the sorrel which is starting to bolt. Here labelling duties have passed to Mrs Un as I can only just write (left handed with my right hand, which is the wrong hand), but while I split the labels into two bags, I left both in the workshop - fortunately I have a list. I also dropped & broke a little Haws watering can - might be able to fix it, should just need the bottom glueing back on then sealing
