  • In reply to Adrianc and redux,
They can define class however they like, but they can’t inroduce or change that definition post contract. That being said I’m not going to be unreasonable with them... they could equally be difficult with me about borderline dings etc.
Regarding 2nd hand eBay... I’d rather not take the risk that they fail the inspection.
    Thanks again.

They aren't. The contract says "class". That's not changing. (Well, to be accurate, the BVRLA guidelines say "class", and the contract will refer to the BVRLA guidelines)

Whether their definition of "class" has changed since you started the contract is another question. Did you ask them back then?
  • No i didn't ask them, but the bvrla guidelines are what i received & reviewed at the beginning of contract. Reading as a layman, i took class to mean speed/load/profile etc, not a highly subjective list of preferred manufacturers. I think my interpretation wouldn't be considered unreasonable if i chose to pursue it (which i don't have the time to).
TBH, I'm following this up more out of curiousity at the moment, since VWFS irritated me by not including the manufacturer supplied tyres in the list they'd accept (clearly they are going to lose that argument).
However, it's good that I'm fully aware of what my responsibilities are before making a costly mistake.

End of the day, it's their car... What they say, goes.
  • @On-the-coast, did you get down to the bottom of this?
I am in a similar scenario.

The thread is nearly 2 years old. Probably best if you start your own.
