  • “Hankooks £154 a corner Khumo £131 fitted by blackcircles.”
The hankooks are indeed £154ea from black circles, but the i can get the khumos for <£95ea delivered(unfitted). Hence £306 (or 308) v approx £210
Anyway my mission is to spend the minimum agreed amount that I signed up to in March2016. Not complaining, just doing what I’m obliged to.
The above 2 options are just negotiating references (amongst others)
    Thanks.

Uniroyal are on the list - £107 each, unfitted.

If they get picky about Audi OE-spec, then Pirelli for £149 each.

Its a bit bloody cheeky of them supplying the car with Hancooks but expecting a 'premium tyre' in return.

Part warns the week before you hand it back is the only answer you need!

Audi and others are going for (what have long been thought of as) "B-list" tyre manufacturers on new cars now, but I guess the finance list hasn't caught up with that.

There's a strong argument to pencil Hankook in, if they really were OE fitment, but you'd be struggling to get that extended to other brands not on the list.

So drive on bald tyres for three months is your suggestion?

there you go £109 fitted at a local tyre place, haggle if you buy 4 and more discount will be available. Can you go W rated? If so greater savings. Try your indy tyre place way better than the online places when you come to needing help.

I have to add £8 p&p, but that's still a few quid cheaper than the source is was looking at:

These will be what i go with if VWFS don't budge on their "premium requirement" (to save you all the trouble of reading back a good few posts, VWFS claim that they only accept
    Pirelli
    Bridgestone
    Michelin
    Goodyear
    Dunlop
    Continental
    Firestone
    Uniroyal.
I'm still waiting for them to find me the contractual words to back that list up.

Regarding the tongue in cheek reference to remoulds... that made me smile. Many years ago as a student who neither knew or could afford better, I can remember purchasing a set of part-worn remoulds at the local breakers for £20 the set! Petrol was also just hitting £1 a gallon which seemed outrageous at the time.

I strongly suspect you already posted it...
Answering my own question... the bvrla fair wear and tear standard says:
“Tyres... must comply with vehicle manufacturers recommendations of tyre type, class, size and speed rating for vehicle”
    And
“replacement tyres should be in the same class as those which are sold on the new vehicle”
Their definition of "class" includes being from a reputable brand, and that's the current list of which they deem acceptable.

Look on eBay for secondhand tyres. Several decent ones from £40 upwards, including a couple of Contis or some of those Hankooks with 4 or 5 mm
